I don't care for the Auto -vs- Manual debate, to each their own.

Although, auto-boxes are limited in their functionality and do sterilize the driving experience.

The one thing automatics can not do, is judge your intent or put you in the gear you want, when you want it. This personally is the only drawback I am having with paddle shifting and automatics in general.

Is that "auto-triggers"/paddles are sequential, you can short shift, or as driver, choose what your next gear will be, etc. In the A10, it can snap off gear under load quickly and if that is your need, then you can see why the 2018 Mustang's A10 is so well regarded in reviews, etc. Touting 4s 0 ~60mph times and being fuel efficient makes it a near perfect all-in-one trans choice for those who like hitting the floor with their throttles.

On another note, I am sure the new A10 enhances the EB experience and can't wait to drive a 2018 EB. I am sure many people will enjoy that experience too.

Would be nice to see if the rumored Ford GT500's DCT would be a bolt in for any Mustang. Because in the end, a Ford Racing derived DCT would be better suited for the road coarse guys and let the Mustang stand out at the track.

2-pedals or 3 ..? Because to many driver/enthusiasts it's all about the clutch! (kinda-like stump pull'en) And having a new back injury, it is a decision I am going to have to make soon. (*It would be sweet if you could upgrade your 6-manual to a DCT and slushbox* -dreaming)

you can select auto gears, not sure what situation youre thinking of. but you can select a gear or smash foot to floor and get optimum gear. If driving aggressive sport or track mode will keep your rpms high. only thing the car is clumsy at is quickly going from aggressive to casual. with a manual you can drive aggressive for a second then back to casual and back and forth as you please. the auto seems to be one or the other like between sport/track or normal mode.

The first time up a long hill I was staring at the gear number. It stayed on 10. I was really pleased with that.
I actually hate that. It is reluctant to downshift. The car will actually start to slow down a bit in 10th up a hill and it still won't shift without a good amount of pedal. I think it should downshift in that situation more easliy, with light pedal. I usually just paddle downshift, but wish I didn't have to.

Why would anybody care if Ford offered the PP2 or any high performance car in an auto?? As long as they have what each person wants thats what should count.

Shoving an automatic in a car doesn't show disrespect to anybody unless they replace the manual with one.

How about if somebody decides something you like or want shouldn't be available but hey, something else is for people like you.
While I agree everybody should get what they want but if GT350 is only available in automatic, I don’t think it will receive respect the way it does now. I certainly will look elsewhere. I won’t cry to Ford or on this forum but my wallet will speak for itself. Everybody is entitled to their opinion.

I agree, it should not go automatic only, it deserves a manual.

Converter lock up is awesome, it's one of the reasons my 1996 Lincoln Mark VIII got 31 mpg on the highway. A light tap on the go pedal should kick it down.

This Mustang makes nearly 200 more hp than that Lincoln and I've gotten over 28 mpg in it. While MPG wasn't even a thought when buying it is nice to see.

FYI, I ordered 301A because I despise the new digital gauge. I don't like leather and my Recaros are completely manual.

I love the girl in this video. I think she sums up pretty well how some of us feel and what we just enjoy about driving a manual over an auto. If you don't want to watch the whole thing, start at about 3:30 and watch through at least 7:30. I'd adopt her in a heartbeat.

At 5:53 the clutch cant hold the torque on the shift and she roasts it and backs out to get lock up...

What rpm range in 10th and how steep a hill and which shifter position (D vs S)? FYI I don't have any complaints so far with mine in regard to "too hard or too easy" to get an automatic downshift at sub 1500 rpm in D around hilly "rural/suburban" areas of northwest Raleigh and similar rural areas of NC. My biggest "problem" is keeping the speed down close to the typical 45 mph limit. :D

Also, have you driven a manual with similar power and gearing and weight in top gear on those same hills and speeds? I typically needed either significant throttle or a downshift to 5th with my 15 GT PP on my local hills/roads at low revs.

Agreed, I know I'm over selling the A10 because I can no longer drive stick but I do love it, I really do. :headbang:

In 10th doing around 45-50 on level road, start to go uphill a bit it will start to slow down despite giving mild pedal to stay at speed. It won't downshift to 9th until it slows down to about 42 unless I give it good amount of pedal pressure. This is with shifter in D, normal mode. It's a pain in the ass. It's like the torque converter lock-up won't let go. My 06 GT would downshift with just light pedal in the same situation. I know it's for gas mileage, but it's annoying and could use some fine tuning - less pedal effort to downshift out of lock-up would be nice.

I don't think anyone here is saying to ford not to offer manuals in its top performance cars, it was just stupid not to offer automatic

What? I believe that's called wheel spin. No idea what you are hearing that would make you think that is the clutch slipping.
Sorry, you can ask her yourself if that clutch is slipping some.
How can you have no idea? Surely you jest.
She knows how to drive a manual, and there is some clutch slip, not her blowing the shift or breakn tires loose dumping into gear.
7:54 where you can see tac and speedometer
8:01 (same pull different camera angle)
8:01 you can hear the slip

Not dissing manual, just hard to hold the PowwaAAh of the Whipple. Lol.
I love my Whipple, and very happy with the 6R80 durability street, strip, track.
