8" Android Head Unit Review

The sad part is it is a good head unit, just a couple things tweaked would have made it great for everyone else to get in on. I never expected huge updates to it (like a big OS update to Android P) or anything like that, but it does seem the best out of what I've seen.

The 10" one from Seicane might be a good alternative for you guys to consider but I'm happy this all came up before any orders/money was taken in.

Seriously though...I'm really pissed off about this...I have no clue which way to go now and besides, whatever it is, it's going to cost me a lot more than this would have...shouldn't have given up my testing spot, lol...my fault...still angry as I have no idea what to do now.

I actually talked to them just a few minutes ago, and it's looking like a bust. There are apparently some issues the manufacturer refuses to correct, and they don't want to end up in a tumultuous business relationship with a company who will be as difficult as they're being.
It doesn't sound like they're going to look for other options on bringing a different unit to the market either.

And if you find another similar unit on eBay, make sure you ask for the specs. I did some looking around last week and found one but it was 1GB RAM, 16GB flash, and was Android 4.4.4 so not the same at all.

Was really hoping there wouldn't be any issues like this here :(

It wouldn't surprise me if someone else picks up the config from the manufacturer knowing how the Chinese processes seem to work. It's pretty annoying how other cars have better specs for less money available. That seems to be the thoughts of the HMFIC guy also.

Some of them do and it is kinda weird that there aren't more out there for our cars, but I guess you could make a unit for a Mustang or make one for a Civic and get at least 10x the sales just based on car sales volume.

I went out on a limb seeking out a manufacturer directly, and apparently using Telegraph Transfer (aka wire transfer from a bank account) is standard operating procedure when ordering from a manufacturer, and on top of that, they had a minimum order requirement of 50 radios. Just sounds like a headache to me.

Not a lot of buyer protection on a wire but I can understand their point of view to make the production worthwhile on a minimum order and to secure the funds.
