It says it has a 200w MOSFET integrated amplifier, I wonder if it will blow the factory chinese speakers lol. I changed all of mine out already but just wondering if you turned it all the way to the loudest and if it was clear or not? Also what kind of price range do you think it will be? Thanks!

I've hearing $400 range...I'm cool with that. Beats a "normal" HU by several hundred...c'mon Chinese New Year finish already, lol...I hope they comeback refreshed and full of vigor to crank out some quality Chinese Droid HU's...pun only slightly intended as my bros tell me it is very good quality.

I have used Spotify at full volume, but only a couple times. My stock speakers tend to start clipping from the lows. If I remove some of the lows, it remains very clear.

Most places ended vacation at the beginning of this week, so should be any day now!

So here's an update, I just got off the phone with them, and apparently China has resumed operations, and they've got some polishing to do. I have a list of things he asked them to correct for the Beta units, because they're significant enough to be nuisances:

1. Redesigning/Shortening the Host/Box part of it. (This is a must IMO, because it's the hardest part of the installation, trying to cram it in there.)

2. Removing the HVAC popup, and the entire Air Conditioning App completely. (This is apparently easier than the method I discovered.)

3. Changing the microphone design to use an external mic. (Some people won't like this, but it's a lot easier than trying to tap into existing wiring.)

4. Removing the overlay picture of a vehicle that pops up when a door/trunk is open. (It's a redundant warning that is already on the dash, and it's not even a Mustang shown)

5. Removing a warning at boot that was Engrish, something about "Please Caution The light is close!"

6. A different model CANBUS module. During bench testing, I noticed the weird quickboot issue went away when there was no module in place.

With that said, I asked how long it would take for them to make the revisions, and he said he's at the mercy of the factory, which could mean a few days, possibly a few weeks. He's going to let me know. I mentioned doing a group buy on the Beta units for people here that are interested, and he's open to that idea, we're supposed to discuss it more this week. If anyone has any big questions that haven't been answered yet, and I'll make a list of questions to ask him.

Oh, and yes, pricing was a popular topic. Unfortunately, he's still unsure, since he can't even get a quote until they complete revisions.

Could you clarify what you mean about the microphone revision? will the headunit use the stock microphone? is this through a harness? Or will we have to splice it ourselves?

External mic with a cable that you run through the dash or wherever and it'll plug into the back of the unit. Just like any other aftermarket radio.

idk why i was under the impression that the stock mic would be used. lol, i didnt give the mic much thought

Where do you guys usually install the external mic? Cant think of a super clean location where the mic would be able to pick up my voice clearly.

Exactly what Marvin said. Although the stock microphone may be theoretically possible, it might be hard to tap in to and would probably be something that requires splicing or running extra cabling around the dash, pillar, and headliner to conceal properly.

edit » most mics I notice are usually somewhere around the sun visor area or clipped near the instrument panel, might require some testing to figure out the best placement.

edit 2 » the stock mic is in the mirror fwiw

It's in the mirror? I was under the impression that it was in the square dojobber with the map lights on it.

I would think running it up the A-pillar, above the headliner, and into that little console area would be the best bet, if the wire is long enough.

If anyone has a pinout for the 54-pin APIM/SYNC connector, and the other radio-related harnesses, (specifically for the Mustang with Base Radio) I would love a copy. I'm sure it's in a service manual somewhere, and I still want to find the factory mic wires in there. Just because these guys are working on a factory-finished product doesn't mean I'm going to leave mine alone and not hack shit up!

In fact, I'm *still* trying to find a way to root this thing. I emailed SuperSU to no avail, and my next step is to email the Kingroot team.

There is a section of the SM that has nothing but connectors, unfortunately, that section was the last one I got to and I had already been downloading for over a day so I didn't get those downloaded.
