Has anyone seen a Ford TSB or info on the elimination of 3G service for their vehicles?

is this to with the 3G network being turned off by the telecoms companies and therefore any 3G communications device will be unable to connect?

it's not so much Ford yanking it but Telco's turning 3G off. Most of the chips out there are 3G/4G radios.

Received a notice from Lincoln for my wife's 2017 MKZ that 3G was being turned off. Upgrade to a 4G dealer installed modem for <$300. 4G is installed in all 2018 and newer Fords and Lincolns.

GPS, but who doesn't use their phone for maps, Android, Apple car play, etc.? Sync uses bluetooth between phone and head unit, not affected.

I read that it can affect GM's Onstar service for older models. I don't know if Ford has anything like that.

Received this notification for my '16 VW and home alarm system. <$300 solution for the VW but don't need it. 3G networks being shut down. Now I just need to find a new security solution for the house.
My provider SIMPLISAFE provides (no charge) a new cellular module for the alarm base station to update the tech. It went LTE, not 5G, probably because it's cheaper and LTE isn't going away for a while yet.

There should be no issues with GPS. This will affect the ability to use the FordPass app only.
You'll need 3g to use smart phone Google maps

Haha $300 upgrade so Ford can track and sell your data LOL. It's a blessing.

Note that never turn over your car to insurance shop as you are opting in to them downloading vehicle telematics records.
What telematics records and where are they downloading them from? Please elaborate on this.

Ford should give or discount the car. Or cut the customer in on the data profits.

At least Facebook and Google give you something back. With a car you are paying for the opportunity to be screwed.

How do you like that remote start? Well that's gonna cost you extra.
The horsepower in your new Shelby will be reduced by 25% in the 3rd year. But with a monthly or annual fee..........

The amount of data collected from our cars is on par or beyond our smartphones and beyond most people's imagination what they can do with it.
