Interesting, I will check it out here in a while on way home, did you try the increase bass setting yet? not sure how that would be with the stock speakers either. let us know if you find a really good setting, i never knew iphone had all those EQ settings before today.
I didn’t try the bass booster yet. The stock speakers aren’t great so I’m guessing it won’t sound good but I’ll try it out. There’s almost too many EQ settings in iPhone, I need to see if I can find exactly what mix of treble, mid and bass each use.

Tried a bunch more sitting in the car waiting for my son at baseball practice. Base increase in iPhone is a no. Muffled sound and just not appealing. So far my car EQ is the best setting. Seems like the two EQ’s are fighting each other

Yes, it's always better to apply EQ at the actual output source. The phone EQ is designed for things like portable speakers that have none.

The 6 speaker system definitely lacks bass, that's my only real complaint. Some better speakers and an in line sub would go a long way here.

Yeah feels like it’s better for earphones, portable speakers and whatnot.

Im actually kinda surprised, the stock speakers aren’t super terrible but definitely lack bass. I’ve been on Crutchfield this evening looking at speakers LOL. My biggest fear though is taking the door panels off. Only because I’m afraid I’ll end up with a bunch of rattles and stuff after putting it all back together LOL. Fit and finish on my car is actually pretty good but we all know that Ford quality 🤭

Exactly why I haven't done mine. It's decent enough for me. I know @StangTime did a good writeup on a lot of it when he did his, he has the 9 speaker system though.

I guess what I'm saying is, git er dun lol. I like the infinity reference line of speakers personally.

I’ve got Kicker, Rockford Fosgate, Infinity, Alpine and Focal all in my cart at the moment 🤣. I haven’t kept up on car audio much in the last 20 years so I don’t even know who makes the good stuff these days. I don’t need top end stuff but some good quality speakers that will play well with the stock head unit (no desire to add amps at this point).

If I remember right you want to get a close match to the stock speakers on ohm rating to play nice with the stock head unit. But yeah, it's been a while for me too.

Yeah I was watching some Crutchfield videos at lunch. Speakers that have higher sensitivity (90db or greater) play well with lower power head units, which is what our stock head units are. Feel like I’m having to relearn all this stuff. I could do it in my sleep back in the day. Sucks getting old!

Acoustic SME here.

Adjust the Fade so that you can barely detect any sound from the rear speakers. They are that bad. So is the center channel speaker. You can get a LOT better sound by disconnecting it. Search under my username for how to do that.

Then set the tone controls back to flat and reevaluate.

For most stereos with "canned" EQ settings, Rock usually has the treble boosted too much. Sounds unnatural and fatiguing. Classical is usually pretty close to flat.

It is hopeless to try to get any deep(ish) bass from the 9-speaker system. And not easy to add a subwoofer.

The door speakers are pretty decent. They should be the last thing to be replaced, not the first.

I did watch a couple youtube videos last night, said we hear midrange sounds best and not highs and lows as well, so set your bass and treble a little higher and midrange lower, have the eq setting make a V shape. i also turned off the iphone eq, most of them did not work on youtube music anyways. my settings right now are treble +1 midrange -2 and bass +1 sounds pretty good. they also said to not set the eq too high, will make for distortion when louder with those speakers. i have the fade & balance at center, speakers on for all passengers, no speed compensation. i did try the fade to back speakers for curiosity and wow the rear speakers are not very good, the fronts are much better, so center is good setting. i also recommend youtube music, if you have a youtube account, it will play your favorite stuff automatically, connects good so far too. sounds a whole lot better than fm radio. i actually think the base 6 speaker system sounds good for what it is.

Thanks, sounds like we have similar findings. I’ll try the lower EQ settings as you have yours. I have YouTube Music also, it just doesn’t seem to play nice with the iPhone in the car for some reason. Cuts out or just stops playing for whatever reason. Never have those issues with Apple Music 🤷🏻‍♂️

so far my youtube music has worked ok, only been 2 days though, make sure it is the music app and not regular youtube. i had tried spotify and it was cutting out, not starting so got rid of that. see how you like those settings or if you recommend another setting.

saw the part about disconnecting center channel speaker, let me know if you try that, i am cautious about taking dash pieces apart & also read that fading speaker balance to the right some may help the sound. never knew this would get complicated haha. i will try out the fade to right thing later today and see how i like it.

We don’t have one, that’s only in the 9 and 12 speaker systems. The base stereo is 6 speakers, so 2 in the rear, 1 in each door and 1 in each A pillar. So we’re good from that standpoint
