280 Miles and I Pulled...

So today I just ticked 280 after thanksgiving rounds and had to go get gas as I was on E from the dealer fill up. I was pulling onto the main Highway and was sitting in the center area as it was a divided highway. I was sitting way to long and was getting impatient. Finally said F it and went in front of some people that I knew would be safe in the CTS but I had to give it the gas to ensure. First WOT at 280 on the odometer and really felt some adrenaline. The solidness of the shift from first to second was the even more impressive part. My last DD was a Contour SVT completely rebuild with some bolt on and it was solid. The power I just felt was exciting and the sheer shock from a first to second shift was just amazing. I am now just wondering if it was to early to do it? Should I have waited longer for a break in or does it really not matter any more. I must say I am loving the intensity this car is giving me even with the docile break in I have been doing prior to this first WOT.:eyebulge::love::shocked:

Why ask a question that you can't take back anyhow? Makes no difference whether you should have or not, now that you have. I suppose the question really is, should you wait to do it the next time.

Man. My gt has 60 miles on it today. About 10 mile drive to Livernois Motorsports this morning and it's going on the Dyno.

Yeah..... we all follow break in instructions. NOT! It will be fine just don't run it down the strip 15 times in a row.

Break in is mostly to cover the manufacturer's ass in this day and age. Especially on the V8, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

A little bit of WOT is good for the engine break in process. It's actually best to do it earlier than you have. You just don't want to beat on the car. Like keep it at high rpms for a extended period of time, like burnouts. Or repeatedly hit the rev limiter.

In short you are fine, personally I don't think the car is ready for you to just go all out with no regard to the engine, but a WOT experience a few times a day (keep in mind I am referring to a day in my car which includes 100-200+ miles of driving) isn't going to hurt anything. I will be posting pictures, review, weight and hopefully a dyno next week on my car. She's a little more than 100 miles shy of 1000 miles

The break in period is also not just about the engine but the rest of the drivetrain as well.

This. I drove it like a mustang home from the dealer. I've got probably 2 dozen dyno pulls on her at 750 miles. Did 390rwhp stock and it runs fantastic. Tested my 11 the same way. IMO the coyote runs best when treated like what it is, a performance motor.

The tires need the break in more than the engine. New tires are slick.

I've had the redline warning a few times, and car is still working! I think your ok.

Full throttle w/ load is the only proper way to break in rings.

Also, if there is a potential engine problem, better to find it sooner than later....
