I've had this noise for a while now, car (2023 GT) has 9k miles or so on it. I was thinking of bringing it up to the dealer but didn't necessarily wanting them tearing up my car and possibly making things worse. I've also seen the heat shrink tubing fix for the GT350s on youtube but haven't seen anybody post the noise their shifter makes.

Is this the general noise people get, and if so has anyone tried the GT350 fix on a GT? I'm assuming it would work, as i am guessing it's just the spring rattling against the metal shift rod. I did check my car and it has both a white nylon washer as well as a rubber o-ring but apparently they don't do the job.

I was slightly exaggerating the "shifting" just so the camera could pick up the noise. Seems to come and go. That high pitched squeak is grating, mostly when hitting the bottom gears (especially 4th) but if i rev the car and and engine brake to decel it usually shows up there too.

this is the fix i've seen on youtube.

Unfortunately, the MT82 is notoriously clunky and prone to a plethora of issues and problems.

The good news is I don't think the sound you are hearing is a big deal for now. But, if the car is still under warranty, I would def take it to the dealer and have them take a look.

I am assuming you are not boosted and still stock. So, you should be all good there. Sadly, my MT82 died with 5900 miles on odometer. This is a 22' GT and instead of trying to arm wrestle the stealer...I mean dealer, we did a T56 Magnum swap.

Best decision I ever made. Here is what my MT 82 sounded like when it kicked the bucket:

It should also be noted this anomaly occurred while a Steeda Tai-Ax Race shifter and Vengeance Stage 2 clutch were installed...

At the time, whip had Roush blower and SW Headers with Borla Res Delete installed. Car was a complete monster even with Roush tune and 93 octane.

The failure of the MT82 trans turned out to be a "blessing in disguise" because it caused me to do a lot of research and we ended up swapping the Tremec T56 Mag.

Now car is Fore Fuel System E85, FI Interchiller and many, many other goodies. Whip laid down over 800 whp and 760 torque.

The Tremec is a completely different animal, in a good way.

Good Luck!

I'm going to try the heatshrink and see what happens! Probably replace the cheapo plastic reverse lockout with a steeda billet one while im in there too. In this case i believe its the shifter mechanism not the transmission itself.

At some point I'll have to upgrade to the MGW unit.

Do your research on the shifter before purchasing.

This vid is very helpful:
