I got my hands on some functional prototype hardware for the GT500 but can't say anything else. I'm impressed that you were able to acquire those wheels and post about it.Thought you guys would like these. 2021 mustang Mach 1 wheels w/(handling package) These are function Prototypes. These are made in the US!
When you start with given tire size(s) and hold them constant, you gain a little lateral stiffness by mounting them on wider wheels. And lateral stiffness loosely translates to improved turn-in response and handling precision. It's not exactly a 'preload' thing; it's more about reducing the amounts of flexibility that exist between the wheel and the tire tread at the contact patch.I did notice this as well and seems odd.
If they did that, they'd only gain a minimal amount of limit tire grip (probably less than 0.01g), and not get the improved turn-in response and steering precision that comes from "stretching" the beads out a little further apart.I wonder why they didn't go with wider tires for the wider rims.
nice wheels but i like the 5 spoke "old school" ones. maybe cause i am old but looks more classic to me. also a LOT easier to clean.Thought you guys would like these. 2021 mustang Mach 1 wheels w/(handling package) These are function Prototypes. These are made in the US!
