Nice mod list! Sounds like it should be pretty stout and reliable. Did you utilize the coolant ports on your wastegates to keep them cool and help them live a longer/happier life? Any pics of the turbos and intercooler mounted? Curious to see what Gearheads did for the front bumper support.

Are you still on the factory MT82-D4, but with the upgraded clutch and flywheel? Roll racer, road course or drag car (or all the above)?

As far as I know the 6 speed is stock. I will look for the ports when I get home and take some pics of the turbo's hanging under the car and front end work. We are road racers out this way.

Oh okay. Hereā€™s a pic of one of my wastegates to show the coolant symbol that youā€™ll be looking for. There will be one on each side of the wastegates and either side can be used as feed/return. See also the Turbosmart coolant hose connection diagram pic below. FatHouse Performance also makes a coolant distribution block to facilitate using the cooling feature on these wastegates. See link to FatHouse below as well.

Thank you for this! I will check and see if there are lines already plumbed.

Youā€™re welcome. It would seem that youā€™d stand to really benefit from utilizing this feature on a road race car.

Do the gen 5 compgates have coolant lines? I've got the gen4s and they do not. I've also got over 50k miles on them and 3 arizona summers so I'm guessing it's not that necessary.

Yes they do. Itā€™s definitely more work to plumb them for use of the coolant feature, but Iā€˜m planning on using mine. I just ordered one of these FatHouse coolant distribution manifolds to help make things a bit easier. Itā€™s my understanding that turbos generate a crap ton of heat, so I want to do everything that I can to mitigate the heat.

Then thereā€™s the need for a good cooling fan setup, which is a whole other story.

Slick piece but will be a pain to get to the top 2 bell housing bolts with that manifold in place.

I agree! I will run a Holley low-ram IM this time around, plus without any IMRC components in the way, I will create a little extra room. I donā€™t expect it to be a piece of cake though (of course nothing ever is). I may also explore different options for mounting it which will require a bracket of some sort to be fabbed up. Iā€™ll share more info. about the port sizes and flow path once I get it in hand.

I'm just not seeing the need for cooling to the wastegates??? I beat on this F'er until it gets over 105Ā° out here and never had an issue. What does cooling the wastegates accomplish? I get the extra water cooling to the turbo but I don't even do that out here. 104,xxx with oil cooling only since 48k and turbos and wastegates are solid. Am I missing something?

Many people get by without cooling the wastegates, but Iā€˜ve read about people having issues with their cars running hot with the supplied fan, so I want to use every feature available to help everything live longer. Wastegates arenā€™t exactly cheap at $400 each.

I will also be running a Delta PAG single 14ā€ fan thatā€™s capable of pulling in 2600 CFM to help keep things happy. Iā€™m learning as I go here and I havenā€™t even started work on the car yet, lol. When the time comes to begin work, I want to ensure that I have every possible scenario covered.

Totally get trying to keep everything cool but I'm struggling to see how coolant lines to the wastegates will keep anything cool? Other than maybe the diaphragm inside it? Seems like senseless extra lines to run so I'm just trying to wrap my head around it. Clearly turbosmart added them for a reason but I don't see it....

Take a look here at this link to a thread at Garrett Turbos. Read the test data near the bottom of the page. Thereā€™s a huge difference in the temperatures between non-cooled and water-cooled.
