I know generally the Shelby Super Snake is considered grossly overpriced. But I've found a brand new 2018 Super Snake with a list price of $120,400 that the dealer will sell to me for $109,000. Does this change anyone's opinion?

No way I'd pay for that IMO. All you are paying for is a blown GT with Shelby badges.....

$100k opens up a LOT of other options too

Unless someone really wants those badges and ugly looking body work (subjective of course), there are so many infinitely better (better lookin, better driving) cars to buy for this money, starting with GT350 (R) if someone really wants a Mustang...

But it for 100k now to sell on Bring a Trailer in 8 years for 45k.

I'd be looking at the next level performance cars for 100k if it was me. Porsche being my preference but BMW and AUDI both have great offerings and you'll keep 20k in the bank on some of the models.

The Super Snake is one of my favourite '18+ S550s. Is it worth $109k? I think only you can answer that one.

It'a lot more that "just" a blown GT though.....suspension, brakes, cooling interior and exterior changes. If I could afford one I'd definitely have one.

One thing to bear in mind, I'm sure Shelby American will be doing their own version (whether that be a '20 Super Snake or '20 KR) of the '20 GT500 and that could well impact values of the current Super Snake.

If you like it and can afford it, go for it :like:

I'd give my left nut for a Super Snake.

After all, it's a real Shelby, SFM number and spot in the registry.

All of that window dressing is how they justify the very high price. Having bought serialized limited number cars in past offers nothing for used car retail on a percentage basis. Plus if you have the mindset that it is collectable you won't drive and enjoy it. The next buyer will enjoy the miles you paid for.

Lastly building a high performance car is way more fun and you don't feel guilty for racking up mileage.

FWIW,

Rob

Rest assured, if I had one I'd drive the hell out of it. I've always enjoyed all my cars by using them as intended, otherwise what's the point of having them?

But until I can afford such a beast, I'll stick with what I've built with my '15. Which has been more fun than the special edition cars I've had so far. :like:

Kinda like Roush? bunch of new 17 RS3's on the lots still? or is the Shelby not considered a tuner car?
