Hi Guys

I would love to hear what you guys think on witch one you would pick and why? With all the dealer mark ups on the GT500 you could get a Super Snake for about the same pricing.

GT500 because it looks better and should be more reliable.
It is also cheaper.
I do like the Shelby wide body’s though.

Well the super snake is base off the coyote build. A few pieces here and there for the suspension and a wide body kit. Not so bad, but in truth, this is clearly a case of "I can do my own build with enough resources." The wide body would be the hardest part, but the other pieces you can source from Steeda, Lethal, Evolution, Beef Cake to name a few.

The GT500 is purpose built to be what it is. New platform (engine) it's own blower housing, and the car is built around it being F/I. All of the suspension parts and bits where built for the platform. In this I think that the GT500 will be a better and more reliable performer than the Supersnake.

Again, not knocking the SSnake, just stating my own opinion.

Well this was actually a hard choice for me but I went GT500 because it does have a different look and the DCT is a game changer for me. Both amazing machines but for me it was the GT500

Id say the time of the aftermarket mustang tuner has passed and that is what Ford wants.

The last 'good' aftermarket cars were the S197 Saleens , IMO , but it was also the beginning of the end. With the 03-04 Cobras onwards, Mach 1, Bullitt, then eventually GT500... it was clear Ford was trying to keep themselves as 'top dog' when it comes to Mustang hierarchy...

'S281s' especially in the SN95 days were garnering way more attention than Dearborn wanted for sure...

I’m guessing this will open an old market for Shelby America, as the original Super Snakes were GT 500’s. I bet Shelby America has big plans for this car!!

Now this is interesting. The Shelby Supersnake is a true Shelby. Shelby = ( a limited build of regular mustang’s with enough performance modifications to take on cars way out of their class). Like the original GT350’s and GT500’s.
Today’s 2020 GT 500 (as well as the GT350) comes right off the assembly line. Limited production? When the GT350 came out in 2015 it was supposedly going to be limited. 5 years later, how is the limited number now?
How many Supersnakes do you see on the road?

Not the same thing. GT350/500 have things you cannot get anywhere else. those snakes are aftermarket additions anyone can do for cheaper

I'll take superior engineering for 1000, Alex. I get the feeling that Shelby American cars are only limited production....because only a limited number of people are interested in them.

After being around the first recent generation 2007 to 2014 GT500's and the subsequent Super Snake do yourself a favor and find a 2020 Base GT500 as there will be no comparison in performance and retained value.

Many years ago a buddy of mine spent $60,000 on top of what he paid for his GT500 and it ended up with all kinds of issues.

He then took his new ~$110,000 Super Snake to a road track in South Carolina and only after two hot laps when the brakes failed.

Assuming your finances can handle it do yourself a big favor and find a 2020 Base GT500 at MSRP (~$74,000) instead of looking at a used Super Snake and suggest that you will be very happy with your decision in the long run.

Very spot on. I ordered a GT500 but the dealership has a 2019 SuperSnake on the showroom floor for a whopping $120,000. The only thing that was attractive on it was 0% for 72 months. They have tried to get me to look at the SuperSnake but for the value of the GT500 compared to it I can't see why anyone would choose the SuperSnake over the GT500. However at the end of the day I would rather have a GT500 it has been specifically engineered and proven and the warranty is something that is a must. I also think the GT500 looks better in my opinion.

I love the SuperSnakes (especially the widebodies), but IMO the only thing the SS has over the new GT500 is the vaunted CSM number and a permanent place in the SAAC registry alongside the rest of the classic Shelbys. Might be a real thing down the road if the past has been an indication on "real" Shelbys. Or it might not.

But in terms of bang for the buck it's GT500 all the way, warrantied with that DCT.....
