Has anyone else had this happen? There are spots like this all over but this is the worst. New spots are appearing, Ford dealers say something caustic was splashed on the car One refused to talk to me. Ive had two paint shops say it looks like a clear coat issue.

If something acidic splashed on the hood, I'd expect some damage on the fender as well. However it definitely looks like some liquid damaged the area. Is the clear coat totally peeled off in that area?

Definitely looks like someone purposefully (and slowly) poured something caustic on the hood in that area, because it’s not on the fender from what is seen in the pic.

If that's what happened, then I would think there should be some similar damage on the inside of the fender lip below the gap between the hood and fender. OP, is there paint damage below the gap?

True too.

I’m wondering if the OP has tried to buff it off - or if what we see from the image is actually raised clearcoat? It’s hard to tell from the angle of the image.

The only other thing it could be would be bird waste that sat on the hood in the sun (IF it’s not some type of reaction starting from under the clearcoat).

I guess we need more info from OP.
