i really like the enthusiasm from everybody here, but with all the upgrades, do you really expect the mustang to remain at such a competetive price tag?

Lets just assume that the following is coming true, or at least most of it:
10-speed automatic
direct injection
front bumper
rear bumper
headlights
taillights
rear spoiler
hood
wheel options
quad exhaust
power increase
magnetic ride

i cannot image that those features will keep the mustang a well priced car.
At Ford there was was a 6 month requirement for tooling being paid off. If your doing a material change that requires new tools, it needed to pay for itself in 6 months.

Most of the changes being discussed either already exists, like magneride; is a long forecasted fuel economy enabler like the 10 spd; or is accounted for in the business case for the mid cycle action, like hood, fenders, taillights. That was probably easier to justify with how successful the S550 was.

I imagine power improvementsupply are forecasted against fuel economy requirements as well. If the exhaust ships to the pants the same, and can deck in a similar fashion, it's just the technical cost.

There is also cost reduction. Ford won't disclose this but I am sure a Job 1 2015, and a Job 4 2017 have alot of differences. I am sure certain parts have been changed to reduce program costs.

Of these features, 5 add no cost whatsoever over the current car; being:

front bumper
rear bumper
spoiler (probably an option)
hood
wheel options (obviously an option)

... 3 have marginal cost increases; being:

headlights >$200 (probably an option)
taillights $0->$100
quad exhaust ~$50 (probably an option)

... and 3 have significant cost increases; being:

10-speed automatic $500-$750 (definitely an option)
direct injection $500- $750
magnetic ride $1500-$2000 (definitely an option)

Of these, let's just say that although the 10-Speed automatic is technically an option, that in reality most people will have to have it for practical reasons.

So you're looking at an entry level increase of $1350 +/- 20% ;not accounting for inflation. That's less than 5% on average. That's a pretty low increase for a refresh by market standards.

Agreed...the thing that will add costs will be options for the most part that no one has to purchase if they don't want them.

I hate to break it to you but you either took that photo with a bad lense or you deliberately photoshopped the mustang, stretching it out.

It's badly distorted, starting with the oval stretched rear wherl that's far different in shape and size from the front. The squished stance compared to the actual car dimension, and the background is also distorted.

I can forgive a bad lense. But I seriously hope you didn't do that on purpose to make your point. It's quite disengenuous.
Nokia Icon phone... 20MP set to 16:9, so some distortion. But, the same car was there yesterday and I parked nose to nose again just to stand and look at them and the Mustang really looks a lot bigger. The top of the hood looks like it is a foot higher than the BMW. Some of that is perception due to styling but perception is what people perceive:) I was going to take another picture lined up directly in the middle but I figured this was old by now. I guess not.
Mustang dimensions- Wheelbase 107.1 Length 188.3″ Width 75.4″ Height 54.4″

BMW 428i dimensions- Wheelbase 110.6 Length 182.7" Width 71.9" Height 53.6"

So, the Mustang is quite a bit bigger than the BMW and with a 3.5 in shorter wheelbase and longer overall length, both the front and rear overhangs are longer than the BMW giving it a chunkier look. Don't get me wrong, I like the Mustang styling, but things like the shorter wheelbase put constraints on what you can do with the front and rear overhang.

Simply can't wait for the 2018 !! Bang&Olufsen high end quality sound system and a better high end all soft touch interior with premium materials. A better tighter steering response with better feedback. Would like to see brighter daytime running light gills, they seem dim compared to other car's white LED DRL's. No more panel gaps !!!!!

wow one can dream !! lol

Sooo looking forward to Spring 2017 !! this 2018 model year is going to be amazing !!! I wonder if anyone on here that has a 2015 is looking to trade in for a 2018? lol

Made a first version of how I think the facelift will look like according the the things we can see on the mule. Just edited the headllights and shrinked the middle part of the front bumper (adjusting the upper grille).

Take a look at the posts of mjhousto for pointing out the tribars and intoadeze for showing the possible new fender line on the top of the lights. You can also see the GT350-look a like lower bumper on the mule.
Good adjustments, but I really hope they keep the GT350 looks unique to that car, does a disservice to the current GT350 owners IMO. I know there is precedent, but I wish they would come up with something more fresh and new. I do not like the arrow shaped tri-bars myself, hope that is not what they go with. The back end on the test mule definitely looks more upright than the '15-17 and the hood looks lower. I personally like the look of my '15 hood, but have to admit that the GT350 looks incredible with the lower hood.

Nope.

The nearest "solid info" you'll get is if Ford decide to tease the '18MY a week or two ahead of one of the shows.

So, it'll likely be LA November or Detroit in January.

Personally, I'm hoping for LA in November, with Detroit showing an SE.

Mach 1 please :ford:
