Actually, forged pistons need to have looser clearances due to expansion and have more of a tendency to have piston slap until warmed up.The HPFP can be pretty noisy on direct injection motors. Piston slap before operating temp can also be normal. The LS crowd deals with it. Piston alloys expand and contract at different rates than the block and sleeves. It’s less of an issue with Forged pistons.
