I am not sure if your serious about that or not.

CAFE has likely driven alot of innovation into the automotive world the only thing that comes close is the new crash standards.

Furthermore there is alot of ways to to credit towards CAFE, versus the end of the V8. Active Grill Shutters, 1234YF Refrigerant, and such

HEV's, PHEV, small forced induced engines are the savor of Halo cars because it's Corporate Average Fuel Economy. A big reason BMW with to carbon, they don't really build fuel efficient vehicles. But light weight forced induced cars is how you get there.
I disagree to a certain extent... Many times in the 60-70's there were introductions of fuel-efficient ideas that were thwarted by big oil. The ideas have been there way before CAFe came along.

Are you talking about the stuff that went into production models for a few months then was axed due to flammability/combustibility in a collision? I recall doing the conversions from R134a to (IIRC) R1234 and then having to almost immediately undo the conversions.

I think people should have the freedom to choose to buy what they want. I'm fine with some emissions control equipment such as catalytic converters - they make sense - but legislating refrigerants and fuel economy is way too much invasion into our personal freedoms.

I would like to be able to buy a car with no airbags and built to reduced crash standards, for instance. A vehicle like the GT350 that people want to buy should be cheap and common, not something so special that only a few can own one and dealers can charge more than MSRP. Same thing goes for larger SUVs and pickups - they could be simple and inexpensive like they were years ago.

Well with the way Gov's going today, I use this saying.

"its a free country as long as you do what your told"

Funny, but then again not so much.

Wonder if my dealer will have an allocation now.
If they didn't have one before, I'd say no. You had to buy in to be able to sell them and you are guaranteed only 1 car for 16/17. That's how I don't understand people saying dealers thought it would be a 16 only. You weren't guaranteed a '15, so if you're guaranteed one per year for 2 years...

Since this is all speculation, 2 more cents. 3600 total for MY 16 and 17 doesn't make sense. With 2500 produced so far, are we saying only 1100 more for the rest of this year and next? This is substantially fewer than the totals for the Boss 302 yet Ford clearly stated production numbers would be in that range as I recall from early posts so I don't think this was all Mustang Manny's idea. Just guessing but I don't recall any mention that MY 17 allocations were going to be different from MY 16 and this alone puts you way above 3600 total. More likely the 3600 number is a floor as someone stated above despite the phrasing in the announcement or at worst 3600 per MY. At least I hope so for those who don't have one yet.

Like most of you guys I've read every article that exists related to this car. There was one dated August 2015 on cars.com, by Joe Bruzek, that quoted a Ford Performance spokesperson stating "gt350 production will be determined by demand". For what it's worth.

I'm a little out of the loop here. Is that 3600 total? Or 3600 per model year?

EDIT: OK, just skimmed a couple posts, seems like it's still mostly speculation at this point, heh.

Yes, it's largely speculative but the bulletin, of which has been now to have circulated it's way to multiple dealers, appears to draw a line in the sand on production.

The proverbial $64k question now is whether 3600/350 for two years is a floor or ceiling.

2015 is 100/37, and that's all.

The way I understood the statement was 3600/350 for 16/17 together.
That's the minimum required per year for the racing series. I promise Ford plans to make more than that each year. Think more like 5,000/500 a year (not counting the limited 15 run).

Can someone provide a link to the homologation rules?... I've looked everywhere and find nothing.
