Howdy,
I have a 2016 mustang that has a strange starting problem. Most times it starts right up no problem but every couple of start ups, it will crank without starting. Now I’ve realized that it doesn’t start if the i don’t hear the initial whine (which I think is the fuel pump) when you go to start the car. When it doesn’t start on the first try I have to shut off the car, Open the door, close it, click the car into run and then the whine is back and car starts fine.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

if manual it may be clutch switch on the back of the clutch pedal. if auto i have no idea. my clutch switch started going out. most of the time would start up just fine. other times it would crank and never fire. replaced clutch switch and starts up everytime first time.

Same happened to me and i replaced the clutch pedal switch sensor. Google it and found that ford really did recalls for some particular cars and replaced it for them. Its so easy to replace it yourself. Cheap and easy to replace.

If there is no message stating “ press the clutch to start “ then It might be battery issues or something went wrong.
