What gas did you put before? Technically it should accommodate any normal gas 87+

May be weather did change?

I guess it's just the coincidence about the gas. But keep us posted.

I'm having a very similar issue with my '15 GT 6-speed. You press the start button and it will crank anywhere from a couple seconds to the point where it gives up and flashes the start button to press it again. Very annoying for a car I got with 17miles on it.

I took it to the dealer and they are suspecting the fuel pump. No CEL at the time. Supposedly though the fp is backordered from Ford with no ETA. That was 2 weeks ago. They told me I could drive the car with no issue, just hard starting.

Since then it did through a CEL, the code was P171 or something like that. It was a lean code. The mechanic suspected it was due to the fp issue.

My concern is what am I going to do to the engine by driving it until the fp is replaced? Hopefully I will hear on Monday from the dealer. They were getting the Ford rep involved.

I started with 87 and it did it. I switched to 89 and it was about the same. I did go back to 87 and that's when it threw the CEL too lean code. That could be the computer see a lower octane gas.

I should have also mentioned there is a big hesistation when you hit around 40mph too. I think that's why dealer suspects it's the fuel pump. I'm hoping they have an answer this week. I love this car, but I will seriously consider giving it back if this isn't fixed quick.

Having the same issue like every 3rd-4th time I go to start it, but no codes thrown yet. I am curious to see the outcome. I am not ready to give this car up for 2 months for them to find a problem. Good luck OP!

This is what I thought. This car should run fine on any normal gas you put in.

warm start issues with 2016 GT

Hi, what was the outcome of the warm start problem? I am having the same issues as previous posts....starts good when cold, long crank when engine warm and sometimes engine stops cranking and "wrench" icon appears. After waiting several seconds another long crank and car starts up. Dealership not able to identify problem. Today the large wrench appeared and car was in "fail safe" or "limp home" mode and I was barely able to drive it to dealership where it is now. Any solutions that previous posts had would be appreciated. Thanks

My Mustang was at the Ford dealership for 24 days. There were error codes indicating a timing problem with the right exhaust cam. The phaser solenoid was replaced but the same error code reappeared. A new phaser was ordered but the new flex to torque bolts for the new phaser were longer than the original bolts and when installed caused a problem. The part number was correct but after many calls to Ford tech with no result the local Ford dealer was able to obtain the correct length bolts from another Ford dealer. Apparent problems with packaging as the bolts had the same correct part number printed on envelope even though bolts were different lengths. The new phaser was installed with the correct length length bolts. I got the Mustang back 4 days ago and I no longer have the "long crank problem" but I will monitor starting and performance. I am interested in the fuel octane change from 93 to 87. The owners manual says to use 87 octane but Ford tech said it was not an issue.
