The vette being a 2 seater allows its engine to sit significantly further back than the 4 seater camaro and mustang ever could and still have a functioning trunk. The corvette is only 8 inches short than both pony cars and has almost the same.trunk space. That remaining difference is all hood pushing the engine into the middle of the car.

The corvette has also taken some rather extreme steps towards weight reduction that a sub 50k car just can't do which enables them to put weight wherever needed to optimize distribution.

It also has a rear mounted transaxle. Much easier to reach 50/50 that way.

I could give a crap about the next SS Camaro and waited a long time to order a Gt350 @ MSRP. Now I will pay attention to the next Z/28 maybe !

I seriously doubt that there will be a new Z28. ZL1? Yes. Z28? Doubtful. Chevy doesn't seem to have any plans for a high powered NA motor, and they aren't going to build one specifically for the Camaro.

Wonder if they'll realize that 1LE and Z/28 customers are not as likely to want forced induction "solutions" as the more mainstream Camaro performance enthusiast who's looking at big power being the #1 priority.

I'd really hate to see the introduction of a forced induction "1LE" or "Z/28" influence Ford to supercharge either of the GT350s. Just build a new GT500 for those who want that (FI).

Performance numbers are important to me, but not everything to me...To some that is!

For myself the exterior itself is probably the biggest factor when it comes to buying a car...IMO this new mustang is miles ahead of the new camaro...I was never a fan of the previous generation mustangs and I actually wanted a SRT Challenger to begin with but fell in love with the mustang the moment I saw it.

I'm glad there are people who all don't like the mustang because I would hate to keep seeing so many around my city.

I'm no brand-loyalist...I consider my next car to be a C7 after a couple years, while keeping this mustang=)

Competition between Ford and Chevy is benefitting us...Mustang will make there changes and I'm excited to see what that'll be.

I think for most buyers comfort, looks and driving experience trump everything; except maybe price.

Performance is the gravy on top. Anyone buying a car for true performance isn't looking at the stock performance but as a base for something better.

As I said, even if 500hp I wouldnt buy a Camaro because it looks fugly outside and cheap interior.

Ford just partnered with Alcoa, the largest aluminum producer in the US, possibly the world. They are working together to come up with newer, more efficient ways to form automotive aluminum. I wouldn't be surprised to see more aluminum in the Mustang before the S550 lifecycle ends. They may be able to add aluminum doors and rear quarters without completely reworking the structure.

With this partnership, they'll be trying to accomplish that without raising the price too much on the Mustang. It's off topic somewhat, but just an interesting idea of how Ford may make the next move to jump above the Camaro.

God help any body shop that has to deal with a wrecked all aluminum vehicle. Ive heard of some of the nightmare stories on some of the new f150s already from a couple body shops.:(

It's no big deal. I'm actually a painter in a body shop. You have to get welding equipment to deal with it, but that's about it. All our paints, fillers, and tools are fine already.

I wonder what their deal was then. That doesn't sound anything super crazy.

Maybe because you have to replace panels more often because it's not as easy to pull dents on aluminum, but that's the insurance company's problem. We replace rear quarter panels and bedsides all the time, so no big deal for us. Almost all the other panels are just unbolt the old, bolt on the new.

Actually, you'll want to have a set of tools specifically for working with aluminum, or at least some covers for the ones you already have so that you won't introduce galvanic corrosion by any necessary metalworking efforts.

This has been mentioned a number of times in various repair industry periodicals and e-mailings.

Is it worth it to take out my springs so I can trade in my car for the new camaro or should I just leave it on?
Is this serious question in this thread? I can certainly see the relevance.

Already done. We've been dealing with aluminum panels for years. Everyone is just freaking out now because there's a truck that's all aluminum. It's like it's some new 25th century crap because GM put out a ton of scare tactics, only to plan to build their own aluminum trucks in the next couple of years.

Unless this ia some joke, plz dont let the door hit you on the way out to Camaro6g.com

Only an idiot would trade a brand new car in for a completely different made/model and lose their ass on it for no reason; let alone for only 20 less pounds and only 25 more hp.
