Soo... I went a step further to the dark side..

I was chatting with my mechanic and noticed my headers are completely rusted, I mean they look awful. GT gets the Stainless Steel headers but the V6 gets Iron.

I asked them if I bought headers if they would install them since the engine is out and it is easy. They said yea it is no problem.

So I just bought the BBK Shorty Ceramic Headers, JLT oil catch and Steeda clutch line as well which they will put on this week while they are installing the new engine.
I had to google those. I bet they will look awesome. Please post photos when its done.

Just keep an eye on the engine oil periodically and I think odds of major engine trouble on the NA V6 are very minimal. My theory is you got burned because you bought the car with 240 miles, and the dealership "proactively" changed the oil and failed to tighten the oil filter all the way. Long on theory, short on proof.

Yes this is what I also believe and hope. I bought the V6 not to deal with engine problems since the ecoboost has a whole lot more potential to have problems. Irony at its best.

I paid $100 extra to get the ceramic coated headers, I think it will be worth it once I get them installed in the car.

I also bought this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/CarPro-Car-...:g:cUwAAOSwDNdVusC1&item=161921625707&vxp=mtr

So I am going to get the car back around 31st, gonna do a nice wax and go on a road trip. I will take some pics as well as the headers.

I am kinda mad I didnt make a problem and try to get the GT but I decided to buy a house with 50k downpayment so I do not want to pay a dime towards a car (although I spend $650 before I even got it back)

Has anyone had any experience with Boomba throw shifter?

Only thing I want to do is the throw shifter and tune in the future for the car.

this is a fancy kit. I wasn't planning to do much more than a bucket wash, as needed, with Meguiars (or equiv) all-in-one soap & wax. This stuff much better than a regular wax ?

will the new motor require a break-in? Supposedly its better to vary speeds for a break-in and a road trip isn't ideal for that. Although I bet for lots of people, they start with a road trip.

Paul the Cquartz supposed to be super good stuff. I saw all prices around 180$ this was 54.95. But if you check youtube, they have good videos. And a lady on this forum named ponygirlll paid $600 for it to be applied to her car.

In this road trip I would go through the rpms, it states dont let the car idle, highway is best as you can go 50-85 bursts of accelaration on lower gears.

BUT remember how I said dealer let me drive it 3 days after determining I need a short block? Well they found sh*t load of metal in the heads so now I need a whole new engine:frusty:

Car was submitted to service November 16. Now they are ordering a new engine on Dec 30th again.

This looks like a lemon law issue. I will call my customer service guy and discuss it today. This is just ridiculous. Other than the engine problem I had:

-Shaking 50 - 70 mph.
-Steering wheel sticking while taking a turn.
-clutch spring sticking
-dash vinyl coming off
-loud cluck noise from the front while getting on to my driveway.
-panel misallignments

:headbonk:my mazda 3 never had one warranty work done. I wish Ford would build these cars with a bit more quality in mind. Such a beautiful, fun car... these problems make you want to stay away.

sounds like the engine totally shredded. They give it a formal diagnosis / postmortem?

agree. Doesn't sound like that will be fast. We could easily still be typing on this thread in 4-6 weeks from now.

how many miles did your mazda 3 have on it ?

be interesting to get at the Lemon Law stats, sort the data by car manufacturer. That would not only show QC issues, but Mean Time to Repair issues. Although in this case, I suspect you got burned by a slopped dealership oil change. You won't be able to prove that though. That's only half the problem. The other half, is it takes forever to get a new short block / engine.

Lots of lemon law info on google:

My mazda was 110,000 when I traded it in for 5500, Through its life with me I only changed the oil, tires and brakes.

Mechanic came to see me, they said the engine is coming monday or tuesday.

He did say some parts are back ordered. so who knows.

I am tired of this piece of crap nissan versa rental.

Lemon law in MD states if car spent more than 30 days in shop it is eligible.

I sent my certified mail to Ford 2 weeks ago. So the process already started.

We will see how it goes. I got this car rather than changing my clutch on my Mazda 3. Kinda regret it now...

Yes they are. Well i do like the rental, it is better than nothing but i am paying insurance for a red mustang not a bike-like versa
with Ford covering the rental, I am not sure what I would do. I am sure they are eager to stop paying on that rental.

If you do LL, then you will have to go back to the drawing board. Car shopping can be time consuming. Maybe you can float them a little more cash and get into a brand new Mustang V6 with < 20 miles on it. Or just sit tight, since you have a Ford rental.

It was 2010 2.5L engine. the most durable car I had in any way.
What you fail to realize is that the majority of components on the Mazda 3 are sourced from Ford. If you tear it apart, you'll find that almost all mechanical components will say FoMoCo. So you can take your theory about your Mazda 3 being "more durable" and throw it right out the window.

why is it taking him so long to get an engine rebuild? I think its 6 weeks and counting. No end in sight.
