I haven't ordered mine yet, because I can't order a convertible! When all the competitors are shipping new 2015s and I cannot even order mine or get all the info about it at least, then yeah, it's still embarrassing. Mustang was designed to be a convertible and they are going to start shipping in the dead of winter (for some, beginning of winter for CO) it looks like....FAIL...I prob won't even bother ordering until Jan or so since the winter hear doesn't really end until May.

If it makes you feel any better, Ford finally sent our dealership the wave of new 2014 Mustang Convertibles that we ordered long ago. The '14's are here and ready for summer this year. If you want a brand new Mustang Convertible this summer, buy a '14. If you want a '15 Mustang Convertible for the summer of '15, then order in January as you noted.

I test drove a 2014 one year ago this month, and decided to wait for the 2015 to see what it looks like. They revealed production intent version in December and even if I was first to order it looks like I wouldn't get one until this December if I'm lucky. My disappointment is not unreasonable no matter how you guys try and twist it. Ford marketing and top brass did a terrible job with this project and it should have began building in April to better mark the 50th anniversary timeline, and had coupes and convertibles on dealer lots around now. They either had a lot of setbacks or they didn't start the project at the correct time, I'm not sure. Regardless the results are pissed off customers who could have bought but didn't want a 2014 that's been built for the last 18 months.

Well, if anything, perhaps I have "geography" on My side. Residing here in South Florida, hopefully the first initial batch and allocation will be sent to both Florida and California. Late Fall and Winter is the "best" time for Convertibles here. Its dry, temperatures are in the high 70`s and low 80`s and pleasant. Summer`s are Hot, Humid, and Rainy meaning Top Up with A/C engaged with only the possibility a a few enjoyable drives in the Evening hours with the Top down. Hoping now for Thanksgiving or Christmas delivery if the damn Unscheduled Order Bank for Convertible finally starts excepting Orders, be they Dealer Stock or Sold Retail Order. Seems by the time JOB2 finally happens, it won`t really matter what Status the Order format is.

You guys are just new to the game thats all. Nothing embarassing at all. If you look back at the last major body change ten years ago, Ford did the exact same thing and the 2005 started hitting showrooms by end of September/begining of October of 2004. It would be embarassing if a 2015 Mustang would show up first by FALL OF 2015, but if this unit, being a biggest hype of Mustang, comes out 4 months away from the year 2015, nothing embarassing about it. It was planned and announced that 2015 Mustang will be out FALL OF 2014!

Job 1 for the 2005 Mustang was 9/20/2004. So this "delay" shouldn't be much of a surprise.

I think people got spoiled by early model year releases of F-150s and such.

Exactly! :D

But seriously, I'm an engineer in the consumer industry and when competition brings out new things ahead of you it really sucks. We also don't tease the customer for a super long time either. The only real competitor that's new for 2015 is the M4 maybe and it's already been tested by Motor Trend at least.

As far as the 2005, I don't know because I didn't order a 2005, so yes it's a surprise to me still.

I think some of the "blame" can be laid at the feet of Ford with the new F150 coming out. It is the moneymaker, the bread and butter. It is unfortunate that Mustang and F150 overlap on new vehicles because I GUARANTEE that Ford will always devote more time, effort and money into the F150 program than the Mustang program. If F150 would have been a year later, we'd see the Mustang out in my opinion. If Mustang were pushed back to 2016 we would have seen them on lots in Summer of '15. I'm not setting F150 up as the enemy, but it dictates a lot of what goes on at Ford. As it should it keeps the doors open and allows us to buy this cool Mustang. It just sucks that their introductions coincide the same year. :(

Although, Ford has a lot riding on the introduction of its all new Pony Car, the 2015 Mustang Fastback & Convertible, the "Bean Counters" at Ford know that its all simply a numbers game and much higher profit margins lie with the new 2015 Ford 150 Series Pick Up Truck. It has always been the biggest seller and yields the (highest) profit margins per Unit Sold. Sorry Folks, its all about the Bottom Line.

I just received an email from a local ford dealer in NJ that said in big bold print. 2015 Mustang Arrives August 11th. Its right at the top of their website page as well. Here is the link...the ad scrolls at the top....second picture. www.maloufford.net. Has anyone else seen this at another dealer. Arrival August 11th sounds way too early based on all the prior posts in this forum.

Exactly what I was trying to say. :)

It is just unfortunate that new Mustang has to "compete" with new F150 right now for resources. I believe that is why we are seeing a very long and protracted rollout. I think they are doing the absolute best they can with the cards they are dealt (so to speak.) In today's press a button and get instant gratification, the wait for something more conventional seems worse than it is. Hell, I even "suffer" from it.

Its going to be worth the wait though. :)

They probably are getting a factory demo to show to customers. Most dealer's will host a Mustang Night or Premier Night this fall and there will be 2015 Mustangs to show during these events.
