Ford's website always said FALL 2014 on the fastback pictures and LATE 2014 on Convertibles.
The plan was FALL, from day one. The very first dealer bulletein we got from Ford indicated FALL of 2014. Not once did Ford say SUMMER to us dealers or on their website.
You can believe what you want, but I know I saw it on their website. Clearly, I'm not the only one that did, either.

I believe what I saw as well. And many here saw the same thing, even back when the 2015 Mustang was announced, Ford clearly set their goals for a FALL release and so far their on schedule. Will we see some units this SUMMER ahead of schedule? Its very possible , since there will be some units hitting showrooms before September 21st , the first day of fall.

Ford never said a Q3 release on their press release. They have said Fall 2014 all along, much like they did back 10 years ago with 2005 Mustang.

If you find any articles from December of 2013 in regards to 2015 Mustang announcement, you will see that Ford set their goal for late 2014.
You may have seen other dates floating around on the web, but Ford aimed for late 2014 and fingers crossed theyre on schedule to keep that goal ! :)

Official pricing is high on the list of must-knows, too, but we're likely months away from that information as the car isn't expected in dealers until late 2014.

The bad news for those wanting to purchase a 2015 Mustang is that they won’t be available until “late 2014.” Now that we’ve got you all excited, get ready to wait some more.

Out of curiosity what's the difference between fall and late 2014? What months would you peg for both releases? Wouldn't that imply September release for the fast back and November-December for convertibles.

Also, when Ford says the 2015 will be released in Q3, what is Ford's Q3?
Fall Sept. 21st to Dec. 21 (approx.)
Late Year last 4 months Sept. through Dec.
Mid Year middle 4 months May thru Aug.
Early Year 1st 4 months Jan. thru April

3rd Quarter (July August and September)

They all overlap in September. ;) Coincidence???

You're pretty fuzzy, you could get a build date in Sept and have the car mid October. You could also have ordered something that ends up on a constraints list and get the car in February. Stay in touch with your dealerships inventory control manager. They way weather has been this year, a typhoon could hit Detroit off of Lake Michigan and flood the plant and none of us would get cars until 2016. (sounds absurd, just like some of the conspiracy theories in this thread)
Its why I'm hoping they will want to pull my GT premium order (higher transaction price) earlier than later. I'm hoping my 20 inch wheels, 3.55 gears or Premium accent group don't have supplier problems. ;)

The triple yellow is what's going to hold you up. ;)

I wish I would have gotten the premium accent group since it was so cheap but I don't want to re-do my order and start from the back of the line.

What I take issue with is the assertion that a fall release was the plan from day one. I don't doubt that they told you dealers that fall was the timing, and did so from the time of the car's public release. But Ford did put info otherwise on their site at one time. You can't ret-con reality, it did happen. And, isn't it conceivable that the plan (after day one) changed before you dealers were in the loop? The likelihood is that site was built before the plan changed, and it wasn't entirely updated immediately.

I'm certain that Ford meant to follow the original timing from 1964, to unveil the car in mid-April and have a production start in time to have a summer release. I could probably show you why I believe that, I suppose, but I'm not willing to risk my situation over it. Either way, it doesn't matter. Fall timing is the reality now, so that's that.

It could be for sure. OR…. it could push me to the front of the line as it is an extra cost color and the extra cost color vehicles make Ford slightly more money than regular colors.

I've got to hope. :)

I need to find out from past years if extra cost colors like GHIG and the like were given priority or put off until the end. Maybe someone could shed some light on that.

You should get what you want, even if it takes a couple months more. You will have this car for years... IMHO

I was just joking with you. I don't think it makes a bit of difference.

I'm certain that I took a vacation day and watched the reveal on Good Morning America and spent the rest of the day googling the new Mustang. In the last two years, I probably account for 2000 hits on the Ford web site. I spent 10 days on an all Mustang vacation in April, talking in person to Team Mustang engineering members, Dave Pericak, Edsel Ford, Jack Roush, Don Farr, MCA members who work for Ford. In addition I text and FB Message friends to the point of almost being bothersome who work in different production areas at Ford. A long time buddy of mines Father is a Ford Engine builder(pre-production) My son-in-laws father owns a dealership (not Ford) but is best friends with a Ford dealer who was at my Daughters wedding. I ping them for my ordering process questions. All of these people who are in the know, never once said it would be out in the Summer. (now you know where I get my info from) Back in 2011 when info started to trickle out, speculation started about unveiling at the NY Auto Show and the coincidence of the dates and being available in the Summer. That was magazines and bloggers, not Ford. You may work for a supplier or vendor and see confidential communication on RFB's, RFQ's, T&M requests. You are but a tiny COG in the transmission of manufacturing. Many things must come together to develop a timeline. There are long range forecasts (probably where your inquiries came from), annual and semi annual production schedules (this is where shut downs and retools are planned) quarterly, monthly, weekly and daily production schedules. Any change in scheduling after the quarterly is distributed causes mass work for schedulers and disrupts stability on the line. Huge snowball effect. If you told me you knew of an Earlier Date of production before Dec 5, 2013 I would believe you. Any changes after they announced the dates in January would cause major news from the magazines and plenty of Blog fodder. Other than this recent gossip here, I have never heard of a production schedule adjustment.
