I wouldn't say ridiculous either but wasn't expecting much since they've never done it before.
Fuel economy didn't improve in with the Gen4 in '94 or the Gen5 '05.
& Ford has a history of carrying over engines through redesigns. The 4.6 stayed in '10 for a year. The 5.0 carried over in '94 for two years. They carried over the same F-code 5.0 from '78 into the Gen3 in '79 for a year before switching to the 4.2L in '80, thankfully that didn't last long.

I don't see how 19mpg (15/25) for a manual transmission V8 with 425HP is even close to being shitty gas mileage. It's pretty outstanding, actually. The V8 Camaros (16/24) and Challengers (15/23) aren't any better, and I suspect that the V8 equipped BMW's, Porsches and Audis aren't either.

V8 engines are simply more expensive to operate, that's just the way it is.

Not trying to bust anyone's chops here. I just think that people need to be a little more realistic.

You're reading what i posted out of context. This post you are quoting of mine is in response to all those saying "true V8 fans wouldn't care if it got 10 mpg, they would still buy it"

I haven't said anything but the compliment it's actual mileage and agree that it is good for what it is. I've just expressed disappointment in going backwards instead of progressing, as well as Ford not being able to stay true to their word.

Maybe it was already noted elsewhere, but these V8 numbers of 16/25 were on a sticker with optional 3:55 gears. If you want higher mpg, the standard 3:15 gears probably have higher mpg.

You could also simply order the Base V6 with the standard 3:15 gears and stop the bitching too!

This thread needs to die Casino Style. It's a rating on a window sticker. Please everyone cancel your orders, go buy an SRT with a gas guzzler tax or a Camaro so mine will get moved up the build schedule so I can enjoy it.

They knew I was buying one so they had to lower the HWY rating because they knew I'd be cruising the highways in 3rd.

I wish all you complaining about mileage ratings would have been as concerned about the :lie: told by the government since FDR as you have been about a video of sales introduction for a V8 powered sports car.

Hey guys, take on to account that the ratings were adjusted due to the 10% ethanol fuels... if I am correct, from past nagging about mpg ratings... may have been adjusted from ladt years models such as the ratings posted about the cmax

You know this as FACT ... can you link to where you read it ??

I had always heard that the EPA tests were done with pure gasoline which seems dumb since a good portion of the U.S. is stuck with at least E10 thanks to the same government forcing it upon them !!

If the EPA is finally testing with E10, that is great news !!

Uh-oh. My 2011 5.0 averaged about 14 mpg with 3.15 gears. I'm ordering a 2015 with 3.55 gears.
I may have to stop driving like Parnelly Jones. No, I never said that.

33 pages of bickering. Some people expected a little better, some people are satisfied where it's at. Doesn't seem very productive to go after each other page after page, citing EPA testing procedures and regulations. I mean, does anybody really want to talk about the EPA fuel economy tests? This is a Mustang forum. I thought the idea was for people to have fun discussing the Mustang. There's room for valid criticism, but 33 pages of roundabout debates? Jesus.

For the v8 with the 3.15 gears would be a bog for it because it has a lower torque... having a higher gear ratio would be more beneficial
