+1 (True V8 people would buy a V8 if it got 10 MGP, stop whining and enjoy!)

I think we need to accept one reality, if the v8 only sold to "true v8 people" then it would either cease to exist or be a much more expensive option. That segment is much smaller than the total sales today indeed. Ford has to position the v8 to a larger audience for it to make business sense. We are not talking about a Lamborghini here, the gt500/gt350 is the "true v8 people" car (or a modded gt). And to make it viable it has to be efficient or cost effective to some degree.

This argument would have been very short had there not been statements about the v8 getting increased mileage. But I do find it a bit ironic that the very (potential) buyers that you are complaining about as an enthusiast who look at all of the aspects and still end up buying are likely the reason this type of car is still produced at a reasonable price today.

I spent an entire day calling a Mercedes Dealer trying to actually speak to a human to get my company vehicle serviced. On my final attempt I was told two weeks. I understand the guy in the video. While placing my third phone call my thought was "How does a rabid lawyer put up with this" At least with Ford, there is about 100 of them around me with in an hour drive.

+1 My Sister is on her second black GT Vert, her only mode of transportation, sun, rain, snow. I have been posting pictures of the '15 on her wall and she is due for a new one. She will likely pull the trigger in the next year or so, gas mileage or ownership cost has never been brought up. She works very hard and wants her Black V8 Mustang Convertible. End of story.

My point was that true Mustang people who want a v8 because of the performance and sound, aren't that concerned about miles per gallon. If they were, there are lots of other options like the EB that i am buying. Or an electric car. V8 Mustangs for people who want the sound and performance. Enjoy this while you can. You are correct the V8 will probably be only for SVT models in 5 to 10 years and you will get to pick from a range of ecoboost engines for DD models.

Not everyone who wants a v8 wants to accept shitty gas mileage. Just throwing that out there. Its the same thing how Value is such an opinionated word.

True mustang V8 enthusiasts aren't what's kept the V8 alive. What's kept it alive are those people who want something bigger and better than the other guy. MPG's plays into that.

I remember when a 400HP big block sucked gas so fast with your foot into it, you could actually see the gas gauge move. I applaud the engineering marvels who create these modern day beasts who can sip champagne M-F and guzzle beer on the weekend. :clap2:

I agree we're spoiled but we're only spoiled because the consumer demanded we have it this way, that and competition. I wonder where the mustang would be if Chevy never came back with the camaro and the challenger never resurfaced. I think it would have taken longer for Ford to give us this great product.

I'd take a TT V6. I was almost a little torn between ordering a 2.3 PP and a base GT. If I still had my '08 v6 then the 2.3 would've been a no-brainer, but after driving a 5L for almost 3yrs just couldn't go backwards. & barely even hit 10k miles/yr so not worried about mileage. Anyway I will enjoy it while i can.. I plan on keeping this car for a while so they could do what ever they want after I've got mine! if it ever comes

Yeah but look who jumped on the bandwagon for retro/modern styling... if it wasn't for the success of the Mustang.. do you wonder if the camaro and charger/challenger would have gone to an ultra modern stance on design? It does get old seeing the retro ... for me it does not take long to get bored with it however this mustang... I don't know what it is.. I just feel hypnotized...lol

Wide variety of opinions in here. I think everyone should remember that people find different items valuable over others. I don't believe anyone who thinks the mileage isn't what they expected is out of line, nor should their opinions be discarded as unreasonable for really any of the reasons I've seen in the thread.

If you would be upset if the Mustang didn't have a back seat, or because you couldn't fit your golf clubs in the trunk, you aren't any different than someone dissatisfied with the mileage. A back seat is practical, as is a sizable trunk and fuel mileage.

Most would view the Mustang as a toy, but again, just because it's a toy doesn't mean it can't or shouldn't have some level of practicality.

All that being said, I don't think the mileage is bad. My 95 GT stock would usually average about 20, and that car was loads lighter and had an anemic HALF the power of the 15. The Mustang has come a long way.
