Coworker has a base MT WRX. Stage 1 cobb tune, which he says is 30 more WHP over stock. EB has catback, cai, intercooler, stock tune. (3.31 AT, non-pp).

2015 Subaru WRX
Horsepower: 268
Engine: 2.0L 4-cylinder
3300lbs

2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost
Horsepower: 310 HP
Engine: 2.3L 4-cylinder
3600lbs

I'm positive WRX would be faster from the hole due to AWD... But, everything else seems pretty evenly matched, what do you think? Are WRXs with a tune STI fast?. Also, he has no bolt-ons or maybe the GT driver was asleep?.

What do you think?

If he "destroyed" a 2013 5.0, it had to have been from a dig. Even then, "destroyed" sounds like an exaggeration. From a dig, I would imagine him getting a good jump on you. From a roll, however, I can see you pulling away from him. There's only one for sure way to find out of course.

A tune only would be netting him 30whp at MOST. I still find tht hard to believe. I'd say more like 20whp. He would be lucky to make 250whp. From a dig, he would pull you hard out of the hole. I say, you would catch him in 3rd gear. Pulling away slowly after that. It'll be a good race, but in the end the EB should win this one. Do it and let us know how it turns out! :D

A tune only new WRX should trap 100-102 mph. That seems to be on the high end of what non-tuned EBs do. If the guy can drive, it'll jump out of the hole and there will be no reeling him in on the big end.

I went to visit some family in Mexico, the WRX had a DP & Stage 2 Cobb tune. The EBM take this one, WRX gets out of the hole first with AWD. But, after 10-15mph it's over for him. Both awesome cars.

A tune may be required for this :)
I agree. He'll out launch you and you'll never catch him. Once your behind its hard to catch up without a big power advantage unless your racing to some crazy triple digit speeds! Fight fire with fire and get your own tune. If you caught him by 10 miles per hour he missed a gear.

He does get the jump (AWD) off the line... But, the EBM takes it, no crazy triple digit stuff or missed gears or after three attempts. Hopefully we'll have the gopro vids in a few days.

PS: he was launching at about 3k, cobb LC.

Stock. The 2015 wrx is very quick, sub 5 second 0-60's are relatively easy. The stoplight performance and awd back road confidence sold the car for me. Needed 4 doors and a car I could put my gfs big dog in.

Modified? The eb stang seems to have a bigger better aftermarket and more potential with money spent.

I miss fords v8 though. I have plans for a yellow gt350 next year.

There's no way that the EB has a larger aftermarket for parts over the WRX. Coming from a Subaru, myself, there are tons of parts out there. Just join up on NASIOC.com and browse stuff for the 2015 WRX. You will be surprised.

LOL @ big ass bug.

Nice run and the base wrx (not sti) stands no chance with a modded EB (at least a tune) they are not fast even my v6 would beat them.

I'll chime in because my co-worker has an 09' WRX and we've run each other in the 1/8th. I'll admit it was my first run at the strip in a car ever. (bikes yes).

So yeah it's an 09' , not a 15' but here's what happened. Both completely stock.

He launched, no drama, ran an 8.6 at 79 mph.
I launched, wheel hop, let off, ran a 9.4 at 81 mph.

So if I'd lowered my tire pressure, gotten a good launch, it would have been closer. He would have won but not by much. As it was I out mph'd him. But as mentioned earlier in this thread, catching a car in front of you requires a serious hp advantage.

How bad would I loose to my friends new sti? We kind of went at it from 20 not staged at all though and through 40mph I believe I was up by half a car. I have intake and cat back. As mentioned I was on the right lane he pulled on the left we got to an even speed and we started going slowed at 40 because he said he saw a cop I don't really race what so ever and I thought and still think he would beat my car. Input?
