Never got to drive a GT500 either. I've been a fan of Shelbys for a long time.

I'm sure I'll like my Shelby; I just don't like the fact that heat is going to wear it out quicker than usual.
Taken in the correct context, the heat isn't a significant factor and should not cause your car to "wear out faster". My GT350 runs no hotter than my Lincoln LS that I have owned for the last 14 years. That is monitoring the trans and diff temps on both cars and applies to daily driving, I have also done some autocross with the Lincoln. Track use is a different story, if you have the motivation to track the car, then you should have the motivation to add coolers . . . problem solved.

I'm probably going to buy all the rear diff cooling parts and the transmission and the tranny cooling parts and install them all myself. Not sure whether I'll sell my existing transmission or not. I probably will.

But.. I'm probably going to wait a few months and install them in December or January when I'm not using the car much. Then if I have it apart for a few weeks while I'm working on it that won't be a big deal. I'd like to get my roll bar and harness fit in at that time as well, and possibly a seat for track days. I might see how the harness feels before buying a custom seat.

I will wait another month or so and see what happens in the meantime before buying anything. I'd love if Ford Performance would help us with the rear diff cooling parts rather than leaving it entirely up to us to do. However, I don't think it will be a huge deal.
YIKES, that's a lot of scratch.

Please explain what Ford built this Shelby for?

That's getting old, fast.

Time for everyone to put their big boy pants on and own up as to why they didn't consider why a car marketed as a "track oriented" car would be offered with a Track Pack option. That's the very first thing that smacked me right between the eyes when the car was unveiled. Ford was pretty clear in showing the dichotomy between the two packages.

Engine oil, transmission and differential coolers for the "Track Day Specialist" (i.e. track car) vs. nicer interior for the "Smart, Sophisticated Performer" (i.e. street car). Hmmmmm... Maybe that track pack is important if you're actually going to track it? Astounding!

I know this post will antagonize people and I do apologize for any offense given. For the most part I actually sympathize with Tech Pack owners, esp. those who are overheating during daily driving. Absolutely unacceptable.

That said, pitching fits on the internet and repeatedly playing the victim card while complaining about the honest effort being made by Ford to remedy the situation does nothing for anyone.

Colleton - Your post is fine, besides I like the pretty colors.
Going to the point . . . It doesn't matter what Ford built the car for, it is only a foundation to build what matters to you and that is what you purchased your car for. Everyone's got a different purpose, and my point was that under normal use (which is what probably 85% of the GT350's will experience) the heat is not going to cause premature wear. If we are going to track the cars, then there are options to address that purpose.
Those that track the car will most likely have a long list of modifications to do to the car to suit them for that purpose.

Aside from the usual arguments, I really only take issue with the "honest effort" on Fords part. When I bought my car in June I was assured by my dealer that there was a reasonable cooling solution for the tech pack cars. I don't think offering the Track/R transmission (at full retail) or a radiator and some tubing while voiding my transmission warranty is an "honest effort." Oh yeah and being completely silent on the issue while taking forever is great to. :headbonk:

I like to disassemble things.

Sounds like "you can keep your own doctor" or "we will bend the cost curve downward."

Trust no one and verify anything that may come back to bite you in the ass.

Nice find. Thanks for posting!!
Where'd you find it?
Every part for our cars is on fordparts.com, trouble is finding it. They like to name parts something other than what they are. Found it under "engine oil cooler"

And a tech package is supposed to be a performer, but some people think that that performance only includes street legal speed.

Also, don't forget about this little gem

https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/products/cars/mustang/shelby-gt350-mustang.html

This is what ford intended for the whole Shelby line not just the "track package" cars.

Plain and simple... Ford over reached and released a car with inherent problems.

Honest Effort? Really? So it takes over a year to list the parts that the company already has on the shelf. And one option isn't even going to be a complete kit. Then to add insult to injury no discount no warrantee. The corporation equivalent of the middle finger.

Agree that all the negative vibes are easy to get sucked into. Try and avoid it if your car hasn't caused you headache.

To date I have had a great time with my tech pack. So far one limpless track day under my belt, about 6 fun autocrosses and 3200 miles.

For the hit I'd take in trading my '16 in and the fact my car, G0050, has been nothing but good to me I find it a better and cheaper proposition to add a cooler setup. Ideally one from Ford that retains the car's warranty. If they do not honor the warranty when using their setup and installed by a factory service tech that would be a HUGE mistake. Not standing behind your product will make this my first and last Ford purchase. In the meantime I continue to enjoy the hell out of my car and check this thread for any useful information.

I still dont understand why more guys with temp issues haven't just put a better fluid in. It appears the guys that have, have been happy with the results. All that money invested and you can't enjoy it. I understand the frustration but it's still a great car and fluid is cheap.
