Hey

Just wanted to check if this is an issue solely for my car or a common issue with the MT-82 trans.

I have read that the car is notchy and I can definitely feel that, I am just waiting to put my MGW and Steeda Trans bushing in so that the shifts can be improved.

My issue
Only between first and second sometimes the gears crunch and it sounds like I don't have the clutch fully engaged. This isn't a loud noise but it is loud enough to hear it within the cabin. It sounds like I am jamming the synchros and this happens whether I shift slowly or quickly

Is this what others have experienced with the shifter? This only happens between 1st and 2nd, I am going to take my in to be serviced this week but the problem is in Australia very few people have serviced these cars and parts are few and far between

Potential Solutions
  1. MGW (Ordered)
  2. Steeda Trans Bushing (ordered)
  3. Fluid swap?

Thanks for your help

This same crunch happens to me. I have an ecoboost premium pp with 8k miles and unless I really baby that 1-2 I'll get the crunch. I hear it under the shifter and can feel it in my hand. No clue what this is though, haven't found anyone with the same problem.

dont need the steeda trans bushing if youre getting an MGW. I had to baby shift some of gears before I got the MGW, not anymore.

Funny over and in the huge MGW shifter thread a guy just stated that the 1-2 shift is still notchy with his MGW shifter. Opinions I suppose.

Edit, just re read it and he said it acts this way only when cold, kinda like my stock shifter I would guess.

1 - 2 shift is always going to be notchy when it is cold with any shifter. A fluid swap can help.

I might give a fluid swap a try as well as my other mods, thanks. So it is 'normal'?

fluid swap eliminates a lot of the notchiness. Using Royal Purple Synchromax here

Pretty much. Like others said, fluid swap would help a little when it's cold. I only get it every couple of 1-2 shifts when cold.

get that MGW in! the T-56 in my SS used to do this all the time, I'm not expecting the MT82 to be any better

I'll be interested the hear the difference of the new shifter for this issue
