Judging by the tires and thin rims there will at least be a low performance version. If you're going to associate with the mustang name then you need to have a telsa like performance version with a sporty looking setup with some meaty wheels and tires. Hope they do
Make it like the X6 and have at least 275s, or like the X6M with 315s on the rear!

There will be a low performance to get people to buy the performance version is the one that Ford will make a hefty profit on $$$.

To bad we didn't know this a head of time maybe we could have started a write in campaign and stopped it like happened when the Mustang almost be car a front wheel drive car.
This is what I don't understand. When Ford announced this was going to be called Mach 1, they saw the backlash here on the internet and changed the name. But, are Ford really that dumb that they think "oooo, they don't like us calling it Mach 1.....but I'm sure they'll be fine with us using the Pony logo".

Clearly Ford understands the Mustang is an icon.........but do they really not realise that you dilute that icon if you associate it with something so different?

Seems to me the new Audi looks a lot more like a Mustang than the Mach-WTF.

Here is My take on what the Mach E is....

The Mach E will be a Ford Performance derived, & be Ford's halo Electric Vehicle. It will carry Ford's over-all DNA look, using ques from other Performance cars. A meld of Mustang GT and Focus RS aesthetically.

I don't believe this will be a high volume car, it will be more limited and exotic. I think with the lower center of gravity this car may be able to stick with the GT on the slalom and have incredible acceleration surpassing the Mustang GT.

A perfect uban banger... not for long field trips. Starting at $50k.

Assimilator on BlueOvalNews

"One of them said the Dual Motor GT version gets 700HP. I was under the impression that it was under 600HP with dual 200KW motors, but maybe I'm missing something. They've been aiming for mid 3s for 0-60 performance. Again there are several versions of the Mach E, single motor, dual motor, different battery sizes (3 for Europe, 2 for the US). And once again, over 300 miles of range (330 is what I've heard). I don't know what the GT will do interms of Range, which model gets the best range, etc.

And yeah, synthetic engine noises inside and out."

Unfortunately they won’t, at least at the get go. This vehicle is not for us, not for enthusiasts. It for the soccer moms who want the “Mustang” image.

I’m sure the folks in Dearborn who fought over Mach-E also fought the pony. They won the battle and lost the war.

Please stop spreading fud. Or, explain why they are using the Mach name... and associating it with Ford's performance brand..? If the Mach E is for "soccer moms" why not just call it the Aerostar, or Windstar, etc..? Why associate it with a Mustang..?

Why do you think this is a general purpose EV?

I agree ! Every time I hear 'Mustang inspired' BEV I cringe. Not sure why, other than as a long time multiple Mustang owner it just make me feel violated, if that makes any sense?
The same way the Mach1 name or pony on the grill would.
I was all set to give it a fair judgement, but these latest spy photos just makes it look bland.
Much like the new 2020 Escape compared to the outgoing model.
I am sure it will grow on me and hope it will have a sporty version I can appreciate, but there it goes in that 50-60K price tag unobtainable range for me.
And if built in Mexico, I am out on general principle ! (although, that is how they could actually make money on a BEV when most others do not).
Maybe I should stop chasing Ford dreams, follow my heart and get a used Challenger R/T in the next few years. That car speaks to me as does the timeless look of all of my Mustangs and in particular, my 2015 Mustang GT.

FUD! Come on seriously.....it's an internet forum. It's what we do.

FUD - fear, uncertainty and doubt, usually evoked intentionally in order to put a competitor at a disadvantage.

OK, so Ford is not using the Mach-E name. Thank G-d, for that, at least. Mustang is not Ford's performance "brand". At least, not yet. it's a model. Soccer mom's buy lots and lots of SUV's, CUV's etc, etc. Soccer moms have dads that buy performance cars. 1+1=2. The association with Mustang is simple. Mustang is a fun, fast, relatively inexpensive car that has 55 years of history. Why would't Ford want to capitalize on that? And what the heck is a Aerostar/Windstar anyway? Yeah, you know, and I know but do you really think the layman does? Everybody knows what a Mustang is?

Why do you think this is a general purpose EV?
Because for Ford's 1st electric EV to succeed it has to play to the widest possible audience. That would be a more or less be a general purpose, with hints of performance, vehicle.

In the future I'll put IMHO before all of my thoughts. This way no one will get confused thinking I know everything. :)

hunh?

You are either trolling, or trying to be passive aggressive. Not to mention, playing semantics. Because we both know that the Mustang is a Ford, even though it doesn't have a Ford oval on it. Ford doesn't need to, because nearly everyone knows of the Mustang's sporting heritage. Let alone the iconic Mach 1.

The word "Ford Mustang Mach 1" doesn't conjure up the image of "soccer mom". As such, your comments above don't back up your opinion, or theory. They only serve to mock the Mach E (Pun intended).

Comically, You are dismissing Ford's own Mach E branding and going with a minivan vibe... I can't take you seriously anymore.

BTW, all Ford needs to do is appeal to the widest possible audience, not sell to them. It is called mindshare..!
