VMP 11-17 fuel system running lean

I Installed the VMP Plug and play fuel system, it felt good on pump but on e-85 and the smaller pulley it was running lean. I’m trying to diagnose what is causing the car to run lean, my shop says everything is good with the fuel system but I’l have my doubts. One thing I did notice is that my regulator doesn’t hold pressure while the fuel pumps are being primed but in the vmp install video theirs holds 40 psi then they adjust to 55 but it doesn’t drop until the shut the key off mine drops instantly . I’m wondering if something is wrong with my regulator?

I've been through 2 sets of the "VMP" Fuel system and in my opinion I would pull the fuel system out and sell it. It's a Deatschwerks fuel system with "VMP' stamped on it. If you really want to keep the fuel system pull out those two DW400 pumps and replace them with 274 pumps. I have the system in my car currently and on wot pulls the car fuel pressure drops.

edited. my car is also a roush 2.3 blower car on 79 pulley for pump gas and 69 pulley for e85.

I knew it was deatschwerks, it wasn’t my first choice but I got a good deal on it and since my only other option at that price was si li I figured the vmp system was my best option. I was definitely considering just selling the system and getting the fore system but was hoping for a more cost effective solution.
Do you get any misfire codes on e-85? And does your car jerk and stutter sometimes on acceleration? I got a code for random misfires all cylinders and ended up losing compression on cylinder 7 , car was only on e for 2-3 days

I get random misfire codes and the car stutters when attempting wot pulls but then pull hard afterwards. Like i hit a wall then goes. My fuel regulator never show the fuel pressure on key on. only when the car is running. Check your fuel filter. Depending on how dirty your fuel you would need to clean/change out the filter. Mine was caked with so little miles on the system.
I have the exact setup you have. Deatschwerks billet fuel rails, id1050x, vmp fuel system. Car drives fine but any attempt at going wot sucks. It's a hit or miss if fuel pressure drops.

That’s exactly what happens to me aswell. Car stutters and doesn’t wanna go and if you let off and get back on it it pulls hard as if nothing is wrong. The regulator not keeping fuel pressure when pumps are primed isn’t that big of a deal to me other than in the install video from vmp the fuel pressure holds as they adjust the regulator so I thought t that was weird. I’m gonna check the fuel filter just in case. Mine runs and drives fine too even with lost compression lol I guess the fuel system is just garbage lol we’ve got the exact same set up and experiencing the same exact problems. Was hoping it was something small like a set up error wishful thinking I guess

Also I don't think you're down compression unless you did a test. I did compression test on my motor and all 8 cylinders are good. Spark plugs were good as well. Not sure what the cause of random misfire code to be honest unless the gasket on the blower is causing boost leak but i don't know for sure if that causes misfire. The codes doesn't always pop up. It's like a once in a blue moon will I get random misfire code.

I hear you on that me too lol I had a leak down test done and yes unfortunately cylinder 7 is down on compression. So my engine is blown thanks to this fuel system. I’m tuned by Lund the fuel tested E90 car ran great before I installed the system. I went to merge on the highway in 3rd gear mid throttle car started to stutter bad and backfire I let off but I got 2 codes the random misfire all cylinders and misfire cylinder 7. Car was not happy on e at 16 psi. Even now I have the 80 mm pulley back on and I’m running pump has I still get the stuttering and misfire codes here and there. So I either need to pull the engine and get it built or buy a new short block, plus I need a new fuel system just to be back to the spot I was originally. On top of that I’m not in the same financial situation I was when I started modding the car and don’t really even have the money to fix it. Lesson learned don’t buy shit just because it’s going for a good deal there’s probably a reason no one wants it

yeah I try not doing any pulls since I keep having fuel issues. Just drive the car normally lately cruising

Fore was my first option I just didn’t think the kit would be a total dud I knew fore was better but I didn’t think vmp was gonna put their name on such an inferior product. Usually when parts are this bad there’s already been someone who had the bad experience but with this kit there was literally nothing to go off.

There’s been a lot of complaints about the fuel system kit just have to look for them. There’s a YouTuber who had the kit on his car and he’s been bashing vmp since because of the issue. I also believe Derek off YouTube is having issues as well but he’s not going to bash any companies since he needs the sponsorship.

I can’t find any videos or any threads talking bad about the kit just people asking questions. If I would’ve heard even one bad thing I wouldn’t have went with vmp.
