What did you do to your S550 Mustang today?!

I've always been annoyed that UK and EU Mustangs don't get the aux gauges despite all being PP spec. In the EU and other LHD markets this isn't too much of a problem to rectify. Just import the gauges and a bezel, fit them and off you go. In the UK this is impossible because Ford never made the bezel in a RHD version.

I needed to right this wrong but how? Well, I have access to 3D scanners as well as 3D printers. I'm also OK at CAD. Let's start.

First up, let's scan the PP gauges:

I used a Revopoint MetroY Ultra for this as it's the most accurate scanner I have. Scanned in laser mode.

In to Fusion and I built up a model of the gauges using the scan as a reference.

Now on to the bezel:

In to Quicksurface to build the complex shapes, then in to Fusion to make a modification to allow the fitment of the gauges. This needed the outer vents to be moved apart 10mm and mounting lugs etc to be made up to accept the gauges.

Cool. My 3D printer can't print something over 1M wide so I needed to split it up in to smaller pieces. Printed in ABS so it doesn't warp in the heat.

A quick test fit:

Sticking it all together:

Sanding and filing it smooth:

I then wrapped it in alcantara:

Quick test fit:

Then I took a saw to the dash to make space for the new gauges. Also fitted the wiring by taping in to the APIM behind the NAV screen as per the thread on here.

Fitted and working:

I also wrapped the rest of the silver trim in alcantara to match:

MyColour works and the vacuum gauge works. The oil pressure does not because Ford decided to fit just an oil pressure switch to UK cars rather than the transducer that is fitted to US cars. I will rectify this shortly.

I had an idea that I would add the gauges in a custom 3D printed pod above the dash trim, in front of the center speaker. This because I really don’t want to change the air vents, and it would be reversible. I haven’t gotten beyond that idea phase though.

Had to take the left exhaust tip off again my corsa since it was having trouble closing the valve until it got some heat in it. Fortunately it separates from the muffler, unlike the stock AE. Some advice for anyone who has the same issue (and not snagged wiring or bad actuators), white lithium grease agitates the gunk better than brakleen. Sprayed directly where the square spring mount sweeps the base, the the buildup liquifies fast and wipes off easy. Not sure why the left valve keeps doing this, but maybe the muffler packing is giving up. The stock mufflers didn't do this.

Anyway, here's a shot from just earlier. Needs a GT500 spoiler ASAP.

On the drive home, it reminded me why I installed the M-9603-M8B kit in the first place. The A10 is back to it's old way of shifting. I'm staying optimistic that Ford Performance will have a recall compatible tune for the M-9603-M8B kit. How long will that take is anybody's guess. Once they have it, then anyone with this kit will benefit from my pain.

Update: Got my Ford updated performance tune today. Version MR3A-FPMGA2-BJC.bin. If anyone knows how to decode that please post. I think the BJC may point to the recall updates. Don't quote me on that. Now I have to reinstall the M-9603-M8B kit I took out on Saturday and download this new tune to the car. I did come up with a way to heat shield the CAI. My first attempt fell off as I discovered removing the kit. The new plan will remedy this. I'll post pics when I get to putting it all back together the way it was before the recalls. LOL.

Just picked up this 2021 GT A10 <flew out to Raleigh> and drove it back in one shot (Texas). 12k miles on the odometer now. Waiting on the Whipple Stage II to arrive, but had some other mods to do before then. Need to lower it about 20mm as well.

Very good work, installing the additional gauges. I was very dissappointed but not surprized by Ford's decision to not supply the RHD car with those gauges (I ordered my car from Ford).
Quite a petty attitude from the septics to "keep the best stuff" to themselves.

I [ahem!] may Know someone with OEM CAD for the twin gauge I/P trim panel.
However, couldn't find anyone interested in tooling up for a RHD version.

Where did you source the wiring info?
