At what point do you consider replacing your current Mustang with another one?

PP or standard? What was the first component to overheat? I just found a thread on M7G where a guy installed a Dark Horse A10 cooler on a base GT. Might go that route when I finally get to tracking my GT

We only get the PP1 downunder. That has pretty decent cooling overall.
It started to short-shift later in the day, even on a cool day.
The GT's don't have a diff cooler and the A10 gets a bit toasty on the track (which is probably the reason it started to short-shift).
That was on cool days like 18 degrees Celsius (64 degrees Fahrenheit) so doing that in summer would be be much worse.
With the three extra coolers on the Mach-1 (engine, A10, diff) I should be OK for summer.

I tend to keep cars for a long time… My 99 F150 for over 20 years, my O2 WRX I’ve owned for 14 years… I’m 66 years old, my Mustang has 17,000 miles on it, I don’t see replacing anytime soon, if ever… I love driving that car!

The worst money you can spend is on a new car, the depreciation is money down the drain. Most cars depreciate, really rare cars hold value, but not mass produced models. I generally buy used and modify to my taste. I get the experiance without the depreciation. Then after s few years i start all over.

I think the depreciation topic needs some balance here. If you buy your car cheap enough off the lot, depreciation isn't a concern.

Although my current Mustang was bought used, my previous three were bought new. And at around 10% off sticker. And I always bought when they were offering 0% financing.

This way, I had 0 concerns about depreciation. And then when I wanted my next new Mustang, I had some serious positive equity in my trade in. Which, of course, could have been more $$ if I had the patience to sell privately.

Plus.....buying used is a real crap-shoot. You don't know how the car was maintained, if it was damaged (Carfax isn't 100%), and how it was driven. And used car values are pretty vague, especially when you really don't know the condition of the car beyond the visual.

When I bought my Bullitt about 18 months ago, I didn't get a very good deal. It was rougher than expected (I missed some obvious stuff), and needed more work than expected. If I had bought new, I would have gotten a certified "good deal", and gotten a brand-new vehicle with a warranty. Unfortunately, I just don't like the current Mustang, so buying new is no longer an option for me.

If you're going to buy used, buy privately, not through a dealership. Dealerships make the majority of their money off used cars, not so much off new.

So, I am a car guy. I really like American performance vehicles.

Since 2018, I have had 3 Mustangs and for a brief period owned a Dodge Charger Scat Pack. I usually get the itch to try something different every 2 years or so. I currently own a '22 Mach 1 HP and thoroughly enjoy it. I have had it for a couple of years which is right about the point in time that I start looking around. But at this point nothing is really moving the needle for me. The Mach is pretty special. There is no new Ford manufactured GT350 or GT500. No new Camaro. Not a fan of the C8 Corvette. The current Charger is not even remotely appealing. And Toyota has yet to produce a supercharged Prius. (joke, I'm joking....).

My question is; at what point to you all (if you do) start considering another Mustang or other performance vehicle? Every few years? When your current vehicle starts having mechanical issues? When the warranty runs out? When you get bored with what you own? When you find a screaming deal on another Mustang?

I get the "Urge" every 3 years, except for my '18 GT in Royal Crimson, which I will never get rid of. As you said nothing moving the needle, I'm feeling the same. The choice of exterior colors leaves much to be desired. There's nothing that really jumps out and grabs you. That's why I hold on to the '18. I still get compliments on it and it's almost 9 years old. Good Luck and Enjoy whatever you decide on.

I bought my 2021 GT 4 months ago after wanting one since I was a kid. I don't see my self replacing it ever. I have a 5 year old daughter who loves the car and I will give it to her one day.

I know that Mustangs are common(ish) in USA, but for us in Europe it has always been a dream car. An american V8 with rear wheel drive, what else could you want? I drove BMW, Audi, Porsche, Mercedes... They are all good cars, but none of them are as legendary as an american muscle car (ok, 911, but that is in a league of its own)

The next car on my bucket list is a Nissan GT-R and that is the only car with automatic transmition that I would consider buying (no manual options). But if getting the GT-R would mean I would have to sell the Mustang, no thanks!

If you get bored, just start modifying it. Make it feel like a different car.

One day I got bored and messed with settings.
Drag Strip mode made it feel like a different car,
and was more fun on curves and everything.

The only car I've sold was the 1996 240SX, and mostly because everything behind the back window looked like an accordion after it got rear-ended by some jackass speeding in a pickup truck.

My parents gave me their 1980 Datsun wagon in 2004 and I still have it.
I bought the other 240SX in 2006 and still have it.
I bought the Evo brand-new in 2008 and still have it (with original engine and trans.)
I bought the 2020 Mustang brand-new, and people who know me don't bother to ask if I'll ever sell it.

Replacing something with another Mustang? Not an S650, for damn sure.

If I had the means I would get a 2019 or 2020 Shelby GT350 as a weekend race car - Race Red with black racing stripes or Oxford White with blue racing stripes. I'm never selling my RR EB! Ever!

Not too interested in the S650s. Don't hate them, but don't love them either.

Lol, I tried that, not a Porsche but a Lamborghini Galardo spider. Nice car but not comfortable to drive. Great performance, amazing handling, quite the head turner. Was clearly not designed as a cruiser, it didn't even have cruise control, so noisy the audio system was useless. You could bring your golf clubs or your wife but not both. Built for one purpose the speed and handling was amazing. My mustang is much more civilized & comfortable.

Oh, yeah, I spent a few minutes in a Gallardo and - after years of driving a 240SX that's lowered slightly, and makes my Mustang look huge - I was surprised at how hard it was to get in the Gallardo, and how uncomfortable it was.
And in spite of the vast expanse of windshield, it seemed like very little light got in on that bright, sunny day.
Maybe I would have liked it better with a different color headliner. Whatever light got in, the unimaginative black interior absorbed it really well.
