next iteration - getting closer. still trying to figure out the transition from frame to door card

Okay - officially going to print my first test pieces and see how this looks. there's some edges, etc. that will need to be feathered in, but I plan to do that with Bondo/etc.

After a week of printing (14 total build plates!) I have my first prototype. Going to try and test fit tomorrow.

At the same time, I've been prepping a plug of my center console as well as a my rear seat shelf replacement.

My center console is a play on the S550 Mustang GT4 panel, but with a single tilted panel vs duals

I made a nice plug for this so I can create a fiberglass mold and build more than 1 version if needed.

For the rear seat panel, I am using the actual 3d printed part as the mold. plan is to do a wet layup and slide it into a bag for vacuum it down. We'll see how it works out. If it works out well and there's interest, I can create a mold and make additional panels

Einstar 3d Scanner. its pretty solid - but the new ones have me drooling

does your scan have the oem mirror/door triangle in it? trying to figure out if there is anything that could be printed and put here to reduce buffeting on track.

I have a couple different sizes I wanted folks to test to see what's most effective

can't quite tell if yours is replacement or addition. i went through 3 revisions yesterday to make a replacement part. still struggling with fitment of the part furthest towards the back of the car. i have a similar tab to the clip but it is only for alignment purposes and not for keeping the part in place yet.

I had something similar to that, made out of plastic I heated and bent. It works well until about 120, then buffetting returns. I bought some bigger ones because I couldn't find a printable design online to have printed.

does bigger help with buffeting? I dont recall buffeting on some metal ones I made back in 2021, but my car is pretty loud, so I can't be sure I just couldnt notice it anymore

Haven't been out yet to try them out. But, I'm hoping it does. The small ones I had were good up to 120, so hopefully bigger is better.

The real answer is the mirrors you have. But this was easier.

I have such a love-hate relationship with composites. It's sooooo much work. Like 40 working hours to get to this point. But then you hold the finished product and you go "oh, yeah. that's why." weighs like 2lbs if that.
