No issues with my Gorillas after three years, but to be fair, my car is garage kept, and in never sees bad weather. If I was aware one was made in the US, and the other wasn’t I would have picked the made every time.

If I buy a new vehicle the first thing I do is toss the wheel locks and OEM lugs and put an aftermarket set on.

Edit: I've owned Mercedes with two part lug bolts for years with almost no issues. I think the problem with the Ford lug nuts are related to both the high torque spec as well as confusion mixing metric and imperial sizes haphazardly on the same vehicle. My first experience with mixed metric and imperial sizes was a 1988 F150.

The issue has nothing to do with the torque. In the 70s and 80s both GM and Ford used the nuts with chrome covers. I lived in the Cleveland area, and the nuts would swell with rust, or from the moisture. Over 40 years and the OEMs still haven't learned.

LoL, sure - what naive take. They're not in the business of making best lugnuts, they're in the business of making money so they install cheapest acceptable (to them) product. And it works, people replacing them pay out of their own pockets and Ford increased their margins.

You have to try and see the big picture here. Only us car forum nerds read and post in threads about issues like this. The other 99% of the world either doesn't know, doesn't care, or doesn't even know where their lug nuts are...

For what it’s worth I have a set of those lug nuts from American Muscle and they’ve been great for a couple years. Mine are chromed. Also no problems with AM in general and their open box deals are occasionally fantastic. My 18 manifold was a 60 dollar open box deal and is perfectly fine, my axle back was 50 bucks and has a tiny scratch on one tip that you can’t even see on the car.

I bought these from Amazon and use them on my Mach 1 and GTI. Both cars are tracked and the lug nuts get HOT on track. I have been extremely impressed with these. They are open ended and long, so plenty of surface area for a 17mm to grab it and not strip it.

Pretty much all of the OEM's do this, including Toyota.

I got these on Amazon. They have identical fit and appearance to the original, but are solid 1 pc. US company, but at $27 for 20 nuts, I doubt they are US made. I would prefer US made, but I did not know that there were any. At least These have a warranty from a US company.

Read through all the comments and agreed that Ford do not care and will continue to use chrome wrapped 2 piece instead of one solid steel. I have decided to get the Black chrome from AM as they arrive quickest. Who I found is they are indeed one solid piece but seems to be a bit longer compared to the OEM ones. Since it’s OEM style it looks good with my black rim. Swapped all lug nuts, tossed the wheel lock as well since my car mainly sits in the garage. Never will see rain or snow anyways. Put them on and drove a day or two and checked the torque specs. All good!

Yes, they are pricy, not as pricy as some but not cheap either. And every lug nut is also a lock. Not just 4, all twenty.
When I bought them my Mustang was my DD. I drove it to work in downtown Atlanta where it wasn't unusual for it to sit in a public parking garage for up to 16 hours a day and often overnight. Now I know no wheel lock is going to stop a determined thief but twenty should slow them down and my goal was to make messing with my car less attractive that another car in the building.
I have been quite happy with them. They show very little wear and no rust at all.
