What's goin on track stang peeps,

I've got a 2015 GT PP1 and I try to hit the track 1-2 times per month. I don't really daily my car anymore. I'm currently on eibach lowering springs and want to move up to coilovers. I'm pretty happy with the amount of grip I'm getting from my slightly stretched bridgestone RE71RS 295X35XR18 on Apex VS5RS 18X11 ET52 square. Unfortunately I have to run a 25mm spacer to clear my front strut, and even with the spacer I can barely fit my pinky in between the tire and strut. I'm concerned that the coilovers I want (Ohlins road and track) may not fit with my setup. I'm open to recs but the top of my budget right now is $3,500. Photo for attention.

Put a wider spacer on. What do you have for extended studs? GT4, 350R studs? I can clear 38mm spacers with the GT4 studs so I'd bet you have plenty of room to stick a 10 mm wider spacer on.

Not super familiar with Ohlins kit dimensions but coilovers typically increase clearance to the wheel and then like WitoTX said - you could always use longer spacer - I am currently using 28mm OP Mustang's spacer with 315 RZs but used 30 mm in the past.

Thanks for the feedback. I installed ARP extended studs. I guess my worry with going bigger on the spacer is not being able to get enough turns on the lugnuts to torque them properly. I can do 4 full turns right now. Sounds like you guys have made it work though so I may just look into a larger spacer.

4 turns is not enough. You should be getting plenty of threads with the /correct/ 1” longer ARP studs and a 1” spacer. Look up the part number if you have it. ARP sells both 1” longer ARP studs amd 1/2” longer studs, the OAL for the 1/2” is 1” longer but the threaded portion is only 1/2”, so you want the ones where the threaded secrion is 1” longer and the OAL is like 1.5” longer.

You need to figure out why you only have 4 turns of engagement first and foremost.

Less than a pinky is fine as long as you have like 2mm and the tire is not marking the shock body that part is fine. The thread engagement is not.

Most of the coilover fronts the spring and perch sit just above the top of the tire so clearance is rarely an issue. Also on the ohlins (and some others) the top strut to spindle hole is slotted so you have quite a lot of room to work with. Make sure to use a new strut to spindle bolt because you’re going to need that clamping force.

That was a typo, my bad. I double checked just now and I can get 12ish full turns by hand before torquing on a 25mm spacer. IDK why I wrote 4 lol.
I also noticed that ohlins have a slotted spindle hole so I was really wondering if that would be enough since other brands like Cortex and JRZ advertize offset housing for better fitment.
I don't really want to fork over an arm and a leg for coilovers at this point, but I also want the flexibility to maybe run a front 305/315 in the future.

Good good. Beyond what you have already you only need camber plates to move up to 305.

315 may or may not need a bit more spacer or strut. You should be able to run 305/30R18s now, and you can easily slot your current struts if you felt like it. No need to spend $$$$ to run 305s. Of course if you’re still on OEM shocks and sways some suspension upgrades are definitely overdue.

Yea I'm thinking I will probably go with the Ohlins and report back on the fitment. If you have any recs for swaybars I'm all ears. The goal of my build is really just to beat miatas and hondas in the slow technical stuff lol.

Must be nice to have e85 local to you, I want to get tuned for it so bad but I'd have to have all my fuel shipped to me which could end poorly

I def count my blessings man, we've got E like 5 minutes from my house in TN. Have you tried looking online? Sometimes you can find stations on E85gasfinder.com. If you do get tuned I'd highly recommend Wengerd. That guys a wizard.

Yeah, closest station is like 40 mins away which makes it way to cumbersome to be worth it and other stations are spread out even further so any travel would be severely limited. Currently tuned by Shaun at AED but I know Wengerd is also top notch

Vorschlag I believe sells Ohlins set together with their camber plates.
Bars brand really doesn't matter that much - they're all kinda the same, it's literally a bar that gets twisted. Don't go for super big front one, especially if you up front spring stiffness.

Yea I'm looking to maximize rotation so I'll do some research on options. I've got steeda camber plates which should work with Ohlins. Interested in what camber you guys are running. Right now I'm -3 front -2 in rear. I havent cut the strut tower yet but thats in the works too.
