Are people just not buying Mustang GTs (or cars for that matter)?

Honestly, not really. I have looked at every gen 2 GT premium within a 250 mile radius. Naturally, I am biased but I really priced this car less than most and it is in far better condition than 99% of the ones I have seen. You should see what some of the dealers in the DFW area are asking for similar models but with extremely questionable mods.
Should have sold then. Everyone's asking too much it seems.

The question is are the ones you are seeing selling at those prices? I’ll bet they are not.

My 2016 GT (see sig) has been posted to FB marketplace for over a month. Car is in great condition, clean title in my name, no wrecks, etc.

I have had maybe 6 people inquire about it and zero people actually show up to see it in person. Price started at a measly $26K (to account for some negotiating room) and now sits at $24k. Comparing my car to other gen 2 GT premiums on various sales sites and I believe this is a steal of a deal. Still......very little interest. What the F? Of course, I have had the dipshits send a lowball $18k offer, but I am not counting those as being genuinely interested. I don't need to sell this car, but I would like to make room in my driveway for something else and my Mach 1 is simply a better Mustang.

Anyone else having an issue selling a nicely modified, clean GT?
Selling a clean car on Facebook Marketplace can be an absolute nightmare right now, especially since the market is flooded with window shoppers and people who can’t get financing. Since you don't need to sell it, you have the upper hand, but sitting on a great car at $24k with zero foot traffic is incredibly frustrating—especially when you just want that driveway space for the Mach 1. The reality with "nicely modified" cars is that buyers often see mods as a red flag for hard driving, or they simply don't want to pay for someone else's taste, even if the parts are high-quality. Since you're already priced aggressively compared to the market, the issue isn't the car; it's the platform and how it's presented to skeptical buyers.

If the car has modifications outside suspension, braking, bracing, and wheels then I'm not looking. There are of ton of people like me. I'm not saying your car has those modifications or is bad, just the way it is.

Edit: Anecdotal, but I generally find manual's do better in the after market. Is yours an automatic?

People also tend to stay away from cars with lots of aftermarket parts on it. For most people, aftermarket parts make the car worth less than a stock one. The more aftermarket parts I see, the more I assume it was beat on hard
But the prospective buyer sees a Mustang that's been heavily modified, driven hard and approaching 100K miles.
But yes, I think the market for cars is low right now. It's not the best time to sell.
If you don’t need it to sell, hold out for a buyer

Hello; I am one of those Mustang shoppers on FB marketplace. I agree with most of the comments about extensive mods. An aftermarket supercharger or other such power adders are, to me , a very red flag. Gotta figure anyone who spends the money and effort to add lots of power must have used it.
I am active on a different thread which has lately gone dead about a Mustang owner who modified his car and now has a mechanic telling him the engine is hurt. That OP still owes $17 K on the car. Lots of discussion on fix it, replace the engine or sell it and pass the problem onto the next guy.
That thread has morphed into a discussion about how Ford did pretty much squeeze near max performance with the factory tune & stock parts. A small consensus thinking best to leave a Mustang Coyote engine alone as power adders and /or tunes can push the engine much too close to the edge.

I did look at some used Mustangs the last few years. As I educated myself, largely on this site, I began to dismiss non factory tunes. Way too many threads about buyers of used cars with non factory tunes having serious problems. A non-factory tune with serious parts changed made it even harder to make right.

Another thread from a while back was about a miss and included images of scored cylinder walls. In addition one of his several mechanics also told him of a transmission "full of metal". Point of this comment being the OP eventually replaced a coil or two and called it all good. I did ask that OP to post the VIN if he intended to sell it but not so far. I get the desire to get out from under a bad engine for that OP. I just do not want to be the next owner.

Had a deal worked out on an older Mustang a few years ago. Things were going well until I wanted to have the car examined by a mechanic. The seller went ballistic in e-mails. That has happened twice. Not ballistic but balking at a serious inspection.

A few years ago my brother retired and bought a 30+ foot camper. Was in my yard for around eight months waiting for a spot in a nice campground on Norris Lake. We used the time to fix the camper. He got the camping spot & boat slip. He went all in on the site. Built a porch then later had a roof added. I did not know there were so many add on things, but I do now. Point is he is thinking of selling later this summer. I see lots of campers for sale on FB lately.
I think it is not a good time to be selling. People are nervous even if they are not broke yet. If you are solvent hold onto the car and put the Mach 1 on hold. If you cannot wait, then take a lower price.

Looked at a Corvette a few years ago. Offered him the suggested price per car value sites. He wanted me to pay an extra $5K for carbon fiber body panels attached to the body and a short throw shifter. I did see the value of the shifter but not the cosmetic add ons. He was firm so I left.

I prefer to buy a car with mods already done. Save tons of money that way.

The key is, were good parts used, was the install done right, has the car been taken care of, does it run properly, etc.

It's the blower. Pull it and sell it separately or wait until the cows come home. Your call.

Do you have a for sale thread on here?.. what's your bottom dollar?.. I know some people looking for a car, I just need more information since I know they will ask... I sold one on here for someone already.

this...

when I was in the market, anything in the mid20's, modded or not, and over 50k I passed up. I get it's got a ton of money in aftermarket but I would have passed over that in a quick minute.
last year I only paid a few grand more for a bone stock, one owner fully documented car with 34k off fb. which one are you buying??

pull the blower, take 20k and sell the blower for 4.

and dealers will sell overpriced cars all day long as they have interested buyers on the lot, high pressure closers and INSTANT FINANCING. something you don't have.

Mods and track time with 83k?

If you pull the blower or any mods, be sure to post it in your ad and let the buyer know.

Ya, good luck.

Id say 24k for that car and build list is a deal honestly. Saves time and money provided the buyer already had the intention of going boosted. Regardless the available buyer pool shrinks significantly due to the supercharger.

Personally every mustang I've bought already had boost on it as it was always my intention but I'm in that smaller buyer pool. Id also check the maintenance history or ask for proof of maintenance when I bought those modded mustangs.

I will say though you will get more money back striping it back to stock and selling the stock car and its part separately as you increase the buying pool for the car and can sell the mods quicker / cheaper than new when people are looking. Takes more effort to do though obviously.

No, MT-82.

Not really sure why so many people are freaking out with the car having 83k miles. Keep in mind, it is almost 11 years old. That's less than 8k miles/year. Most that I've seen are north of 130k.

Sounds like I might need to take all of the blue stuff off, paint those parts black, and relist it without all of the mods.

Like others have said, the mods and mileage mean most people won't even consider it. When I was shopping last year I wouldn't have even considered your car at half price what an unmodified one goes for.

I would try to list it on an auction site like cars (https://carsandbids.com/) and bids and have people bid for it. You can set your $24k price and see what happens.
