I know this is old news, but I had an experience that reinforces the oil burning possibility of this engine. I got 40k miles on the car and never had to add more than a splash of oil between changes. Less than a 1/4 of a bottle. Honestly I didn’t even need to do that. It was just slightly low. The only reason I was adding oil is because I want it perfect. It didn’t really ever need oil between changes.

But I never stopped checking. Out of the blue last week I found the car was at the low mark. It’s been 2k miles since the last oil change. I know it was good because I have checked the oil before.

If I wasn’t obsessed with checking the oil, I would definitely have driven the car with low oil. I have another 2 thousands miles before the next change.

This has never happened, and I don’t know if it will happen again. I have not changed driving style at all, and the car seems fine. No oil on the driveway, no ticking, just random Voodoo oil consumption.

Never stop checking. Even if your car doesn’t have the oil consumption issue. Mine didn’t. Until it did.

Good reminder! I always check every couple hundred miles or so. I only put about 1k miles a year on my cars and change the oil once a year.

What is considered normal consumption for the 350? My GT is changed every 5000 miles (I’m on E85). Not uncommon to lose 3 quarts between changes. I add about a quart at the halfway point.

I've gotten lucky! I've only been a half quart low twice now between oil changes and both were before supercharging. Before boost I checked the oil every 2,500 miles and changed it every 5,000. Since boost I check the oil every 1,000-1,500 miles when checking the catch can and change it every 5,000 miles still. Going on 16,000 miles supercharged.

Normal is hard to say. Because some cars never burn oil and some do from day one.
As far as I know, among the cars that regularly burn oil, 1-2 quart every 4K miles is the average. There are outliers that burn up to 3, but I can only recall 1 person telling me that.

I do think driving patterns play a role. I baby the car to be honest. I only take it about 6k when I have a good reason. I think the guys who actually use the car as intended burn through much more oil.

Congratulations. That is my dream. I dream about Fathouse kits or centrifugal.

it’s much harder to build your dream car when you aren’t single. When I got the car and started modifying it, I was single. I got wheels on a whim. I had discretionary income out the ass

Now I got a girl and incoming baby to deal with. That 10-20k seems a lot harder to find lol.

You have done what I dream of. Good for you. That’s winning.

Kids are definitely expensive! I've got 2 myself and like me their toys keep getting more and more expensive! Sports(multiple each) eat most of our time and discretionary spending!
