I'm looking at finally upgrading the springs/struts on my car. I have a set of BMR drag lowering springs still new in a box but am second guessing installing them because of coil-over options.

Not super familiar with coil-overs so I came across this set. Seems like everything I'd want in a set up along with the camber plates that comes with them.

If anybody recommends a different brand I'm mainly looking for a set for mostly street use. I searched on here and only found a guy selling his old pair a couple years ago. Thanks.

Not a bad setup at all depends what you are doing with the car etc You mentioned having the BMR drag springs so if looking to go to the drag strip those I would use with a good viking shock setup feel free to reach out to us here at Beefcake racing with any questions

Beef, I've had these BMR springs for a couple years. My original plan was to take it to the strip. That has changed now. This will be a street car 99% of the time.

Coilovers arent magic. Its still just springs and shocks.

The coilovers bring some amount of adjustment over ride height, but almost all the cheaper sets are significantly lower than stock.

So be picky about the spring rates and drop you’re getting, and be very curious about how good the dampers actually are. Just because its a coilover doesnt mean its actually good.

Adjustable ride height is the main thing I'm after. I'd rather have a set of springs and shocks that match together rather than throwing together random springs and random shocks.

Even if I am picky about spring rates I don't know which ones I'd want... Lol. I guess I need to read up on some of this.

Approximately, what ride height are you looking for? I'm guessing you don't need an adjustable ride height, just a lower ride height? You'd only need an adjustable height if you were changing spring rates or unsure of the amount of lowering you actually want.

'matched' is kind a joke if the 'match' handles terribly due to drop and spring rate with a simply low quality shock. Its an understandable fear, but people put far too much trust in the package and end up with cheap parts.

I know I'm not really helping much. If you want good quality coilovers, assuming they don't literally fall apart and or break, the damper is a lot of where that quality will be coming from. You probably need to go up to something like Ohilns to get to a spot which is actually an upgrade over normal lowering springs and a shock like the Bilstein or Ford Performance shock.

I know you said adjustable ride hight was something your looking for but if you change your mind and just want to lower the car i over the winter installed ford performance track shocks and struts with ford performance street lowering springs and I absolutely love it, car is lowered about 1" and rides 100 times better in every way then the original pp1 suspension, I get you cant adjust those but im so happy with the way it turned out i figured id just share this with you incase you were considering it, best of luck

Good points. I am looking for probably somehow around a 1.5-2.0 inch drop. I also would like it adjustable in case I want to change wheels in the future. I mainly just want the availability to change if needed and ride quality/handling quality instead of being stuck at a specific height and rate. I'll take your notes into consideration when looking around.

Appreciate it. I had S&R 1 inch lowering springs on my old pp1. It improved handling and ride height but I didn't quite like the ride quality of those specific springs. I don't really want to go down the springs only route again. I want something more permanent that will be usable many years down the line where I won't feel the need to change.

The Pedders are only single adjustable and not double adjustable

Being able to adjust the height etc sounds great but you really want to change the spring and strut/shock if you're making much of a change (also how often will you do that, how bad does it throw your alignment off...)

Choosing the right spring is a big deal especially when they sell you the same parts whether you have an EcoBoost coupe or a loaded GT convertible.

Completely agreed. So these would be a no go then.

Well, in the same sense, your favorite brand of lowering springs and shocks/struts are likely going to be fixed at a certain height and only be single adjustable as well (you have to step the budget up to get double adjustables).

So it's really just making sure you get the right stuff for what you're looking to do with the car.m, no matter which setup you go with.

the Pedders supercar setup appears to be double adjustable. Might be overkill though.

I tossed around the coil over idea forever and ultimately decided that I’d almost never use the “adjustability”. At the end of the day, any of the good spring/shock combos will drop the car enough to look great, handle better, and still allow for changes in wheel/tire setup without issue. My personal opinion is that coil overs are for a very small segment of car enthusiasts.

Good friend has Pedders extreme on his S650 GT/CS. The adjustability in both ride height as well as dampening strength is nice. BUT, in order to get decent handling, they have to be dialed up to eleven and it makes the ride suffer pretty bad. I much prefer my Mach 1 with Magneride, it is easier to deal with. That said, I am perfectly happy with stock height...

Makes sense and I will probably experience the same thing.
With that being said, BMR springs paired with Ford shocks seem popular
