I didn't realize this was a thing until I came into this thread.

Are you saying a 1mm gap is worth pursuing to fix? I have a couple sizes of those metal U clips on hand...

I hate being OCD. Truly wish the little things didnt bother me, but yep I’ll drill an un-seeable hole to fix a 1-2mm gap 😅 From what I’ve read it mainly affects the GT350 due to how the diffuser reacts to the airflow. I could be dead wrong, but thats what fellow auto-nerds have said.

Hi all, I have a deposit down on an Avalanche gray GT350 ~11k miles on the car. It has some bumper sag from a video I got from the owner. Is this something I can fix by taking the rear light out, and placing two screws into the black plastic underneath? Seems like a crude fix, but I’m seeing positive reports from doing so.

This link I included the TSB for the Shelby GT350 rear bumper sag, the article may help for any S550:

The 2018+ rear bumper redesign also incorporated screws found at the upper L and R top corners, under the taillights. This was a Ford assembly line fix to prevent the rear bumper sag.

This thread here goes into some better details on a DIY with how screws placed in similar spots can also correct the rear bumper sag (with pics and courtesy of @RevyDSM):

Nope, it’s on the GT’s too (so I also assume the EB) :frown:

I’m fairly sure it’s an assembly line quirk, as based on the cars I see over here it’s typically the right side that shows it / or that’s worse if they are both doing it …

It’s understandable that the Shelby’s and Mach’s could be a little worse due to the extra weight hanging off it.

37,000 miles (and the BiRds from ArcheType) and going strong. Works like a champ. Zero regrets.

I used a floor jack to hold the bumper/skin back firmly in place and then drove the screws in at such an angle it pulled upwards on the skin once tight.

Yup. Holding perfect. 40,000 miles next weekend. It literally has not moved since this mod.
