Every time I try to use Hagerty they say my car does not qualify. Do they only insure "classic" cars?
had hagerty on the 20 camaro 1ss along with the 99 f250 superduty which was registered as a "classic" in nevada and had to carry classic car insurance on it. if it's not your daily driver they are a good company to quote. iirc they limit you to like 5k per year. I never had to verify but if you have a claim, I can bet they will be asking a lot of questions to confirm.

Been with progressive for the last 6-7 years and the rates just keep climbing. Looking to switch next month when the policy is up. Perfect timing on the thread! LOL
This is what I'm thinking is that they (Progressive Drive) are offering a low rate initially then I will be hit with an increase in a year. It is just really weird to me that Progressive (Drive) is so much less than everyone else. I checked with Farmers and they are way more than what I have now. This whole insurance thing is a pain. I think I will just get rid of my cars and ride a burro instead. Wait, I'd probably need to obtain burro insurance...

You owe it to yourself to get a quote every couple years no matter who you're with. There's deals to be had out there, even if they only last a couple years
Yeah all the insurance companies seem to reward loyal customers by cranking up their rates after a couple of years. Even as their cars depreciate and are less of a risk.

I have used a lot of companies (including Progressive), and mostly not had accidents. So how much extra is good customer support worth to you?
I will say when I was hit by a State Farm covered driver. I was impressed by their customer support. But when I cross shopped them they were not very good on price.

Seeking recent input from fellow Mustang enthusiasts regarding Progressive or their offshoot brand Progressive "Drive" car insurance. I reviewed some older insurance posts here but looking to see if anyone has any experience or opinion of either brand.

Long story short, I'm a long time State Farm customer. I reviewed the rates on my current premium and thought I'd shop around. Found a broker who gave me an apples to apples quote via Progressive Drive and it was significantly less. I asked the broker if they had other insurance options that might provide a savings and they said Progressive Drive was the only one with a savings for me vs State Farm... I found some reviews about Progressive and the theme was somewhat you get what you pay for; not the best customer service; difficult to get repairs funded etc. I'm thinking that since Progressive Drive is so much less, there is no such thing as a free lunch etc. and if a broker can't offer another company between Progressive Drive and State Farm, well, seems odd. As much as I don't want to pay higher premiums, I also don't want to go somewhere new then regret it later if bleep hits the fan on the roadway.

So, anyone have experience with Progressive or Progressive "Drive?"
Yes, it depends, do you have speeding tickets? Obviously, if you're over the age of 30 your car insurance should be lower. Opt for comprehensive insurance. Customer service is awesome and patient. No complaints.

Haven't had State Farm in years, but some people like the hand holding of an agent. Progressive wa salads good about having and adjuster meet me at the shop and getting me a rental etc

I made the switch from liberty to progressive when I bought the mustang. Liberty quoted me an additional 300$ a month just for the mustang and also raised my other car from 92$ a month to 176$. So now I pay 174$ for both the mustang and another vehicle.
Why in the world are we now looking at insurance cost based on monthly cost instead of yearly?????
Is that becoming like with cars purchase where most people seems only to care about how much they will pay each month instead of how much they are paying for the car ?????

The body shop I use (and have used for more than 20 years) will not accept business from customers with claims through Progressive. They will work with anyone else. That speaks volumes to me. My girlfriend had a claim from a party that rear-ended her car through Progressive and the claim and repair process was very difficult. Very poor communication and settlement process. YMMV.

The only insurance company that ever treated me decent when I was hit by another insured driver was farmers. Super smooth and fast from filing a claim until payment and it only took about 6 days start to finish. Everyone else has tried to dick me around. State farm, progressive, USAA and some no name companies.

Ive never had an at fault claim other than glass but I was hit by a guy once who wasn't insured while with progressive and they did well fixing the car for uninsured motorist.

Also try allstate if you havent already. They always used to more expensive than most others for me but 6 months ago they beat everyone else out here by $500. Just renewed for another 6 months and my premiums dropped another $300 for the new 6 month policy.

Ways to save. Up your deductibles to max.
I've even taking to turning in my plates on the 2 Stangs, so I can drop all but comp over the winter.
Save's at least $500/yr combined.
My S5 was quoted at $451/6 months in Jan 2024 when I was car shopping. 1 yr later it's $660/6months!!!
I have state farm for years now. 4 cars, house and boat.

Someone gave me the latest CR auto issue. Rated 1-6 per their subscribers. Just showing what they see/state.

1. Erie Insurance group
2. NJM Insurance group
3.Amica Mutual group
4. NYCM Insurance Group
5. USAA
6. The Cincinnati Insurance companies

I had Progressive for 20 years. "Bundled home and auto". Had zero claims with them the entire time. My homeowners jumped $800 a year this renewal. Their explanation over the phone made it clear that customer service was lacking. Went back to State Farm. Best quote hands down. Had them before I went to Progressive. 2 daily cars with them. Both Mustangs with Haggerty. an '18 and a '19. Not exactly classics. But low miles and stored in winters... (Not for much longer! hehehe)

For what it's worth, I have had Progressive for about a year now and my son filed a claim about a month ago. Claim processed, repairs made, deductible paid and car back on the road in a timely manner. No issues at all. I also got a notice after the claim, that my rate was dropping (15/month), not a lot I know, but much better than an increase.

I have a very helpful local independent agent that will call every couple of years to let me know when I could save by switching.

I used to bundle through All State, but the homeowners kept increasing. I now have my homeowners with a different company.

It doesn't always pay to bundle.

I just signed the 2015 mustang I bought up for Progressive. Only 96$ for a 10 year old ecoboost a month with full coverage.

Like you I've been with State Farm since I was 18 or so (through my parents until I got my own when I was 28). My son checked USAA since he's in the service and his insurance quote was higher than his State Farm so he's staying put (he's got homeowner's and cars). I also have homeowners and vehicles so we get the multi-policy discount as well as the "Drive Safe and Save" discount where you have a bluetooth device in the car to ID which car you're driving. I've checked with others "name brand" insurers like Allstate, Progressive, Geico and haven't had a better quote than what I'm paying now (using the exact same coverage limits and options as my SF one). So, I'm staying where I am also. That being said, I am a bit upset that they changed my comp deductible to $500 when I used to have $0 deductible. That was because where I live now, I got about 5 claims on my windshields with one of them having to be replaced. They said those claims usually are about once in 5 years. Yeah, right... not where I live where I see more than 25% of the vehicles in parking lots here with large cracks.

Well, this is what I'm finding too, that State Farm is providing the best rate for my circumstances (boatload of vehicles needing coverage). I thought about trying AAA but I surmise they won't be much less and their service levels may not be as good as SF.
