It's gonna be super loud... Here's my car after we took the stock exhaust off. So just stock open headers...

Edit: video won't load... Hold on

Haha I hear you! My neighbor's wouldn't be too happy... coincidentally, my mbrp street exhaust is pretty loud still...

This should work...

kinda sounds alot like the xtremes! just a little bit, goes to show how much pass thru sound there is on the xtremes then lol.

Floating a valve is primarily caused when the valvetrain does not properly follow the closure phase of the cam lobe. Lack of back pressure in an engine can cause failure. Variations in normal engine operations skew when you manipulate variables. Especially in high rpm situations. Idk about yall but thats how I drive mine.

as noted above....no. if backpressure is helping close your valves, your engine is about to blow! more danger to the manifold bs right there!!

backpressure....you don't need it. backpressure bad, scavenging good. learn the difference.

come on guys, this is a ford forum, not a honda forum. let's cut the crap. learn what you are talking about BEFORE you post.

Nothing to do with having open headers.

I believe the misconception that an engine needs back pressure comes from the fact that any change in the exhaust system will impact the scavaging effect.

When you put a large diameter exhaust on a car you move the peak scavenging effect up the rpm which results in less power at low rpms. Folks will blame this on the lack of back pressure when in reality you have effectively increased the back pressure at low rpms with the larger diameter pipe.

Here are a couple of general rules of thumb when it comes to header design. The diameter of the tubing determines the rpm where the power peak occurs. Larger rubes higher, smaller lower. The length of the tubes will rock the curve around the peak. Longer tubes enhance the power below the peak, shorter above. Larger collector diameter enhances power above the peak, smaller below. Longer collectors enhance power below the peak, shorter above. Equal length header tubes provide a higher peak over a narrower rpm range than unequal length tubes.

That's funny. I've seen people suck a valve running open header before. Firsthand.

Well, let's put it this way for you.....people have valve problems WITH headers, WITH exhaust manifolds, and WITH full stock exhaust.

People do NOT have valve problems WITH headers, WITH exhaust manifolds, and WITH full stock exhaust.

You get my drift? Headers or no headers, they aren't the cause....not sure what "sucking" a valve is anyways. Where does it suck to? Are you completely aware of how a valvetrain works?

This thread is embarrassing! Sucking a valve in??? I run open headers on a low 9 second race car. I guess I better stop before the lack of back pressure blows my engine! OP no harm will come to your car. The harm will come when the police pull you over an ticket you for modified exhaust.
