Thanks for the video. Did the larger hole you drilled decrease the NVH? Did it affect the shifting, or anything else?

Yes it did. There is still a little NVH but it is worth it for me. The shifts do feel better and when paired with the MGW shifter it should be just right for me. For $30 you can't beat this part.

A hole in your bushing?

In your video, you suddenly talk about the 'hole' you drilled out of the bushing. You include no explanation about why you put the hole in the bushing. Steeda are the experts designing this piece and their design does not call for or incorporate a hole so why did you? Is there a clearance issue on your car or what? If you have a link to noise/vibration issues caused by this bushing and how drilling a hole will allegedly alleviate the issue would you please post it. Thanks.

He spoke to us prior to doing it, it is very common to drill a hole in the center of the bushing prior to installation as doing so will alleviate a good portion of any NVH induced by installing it in the first place.

Is there any discernible difference between a bushing with the hole vs. one without as far as intended performance is concerned? I'll probably be installing mine this weekend.

Not that we have seen in our testing, as well as our customer feedback.

Interesting...wonder how the hole makes a difference in NVH. Guess I'll just have to see ;)

The hole allows the bushing a little more movement, while still providing a positive feel and not transmitting as much NVH.

Something to remember: NVH is subjective. I personally have a high-tolerance for it and could DD a car with rod end-equipped parts no problem. A bunch of our customers pop in the transmission mount bushing insert and don't even notice an NVH increase over their exhaust note. Others are more receptive to the NVH increase and prefer to either drill a hole to minimize it or just take it out altogether.

The good thing is, it's such an easy install/removal, why not give it a try at least? :)

To be honest I didn't notice a difference in performance going from no hole to the large hole I drilled. For the price you can't beat this part!

How does the Steeda insert compare to the Whiteline?
The Whiteline transmission bushing insert sure does appear dramatically similar in appearance to the Steeda but it may be a more dense sythentic elastimer material insert. Users report possible vibration NVH issue with this type of bushing. One big difference is that Steeda is domestic in Florida and Georgia while Whiteline is from down under. Cannot say anything about Whiteline but Steeda is known for its good customer support and high quality products for Mustang. Steeda currently has it on sale now for only $29.95.

Supposedly Steedas bushing is a softer durometer than Whiteline. I had a Whiteline in my 12 for about a week, nvh was ridiculous even with a big hole drilled in it. I might give the Steeda a shot but my trans shifts really nice with just the bracket

I will have to go with the Harder bushing, Whiteline here I Come, Nvh doesn't bother me but better functionality does

How does the Steeda insert compare to the Whiteline?

The durometer of our bushing is 70 - this helps to minimize NVH while still providing increased performance. We tested several different durometers and we found the durometer of 70 combined with how snug ours fills the void provides the best shifting performance.

If you prefer to go with an even firmer bushing, go for it, although we've been told there's no discernible difference in shifter feel aside from an increase in NVH when comparing another brand's insert to ours.
