I don't think Ford purposefully held anything back, I just think they focused on the areas of primary concern (suspension, interior styling, exterior styling, and refinement).

They almost always do a "tick-tock" strategy with the Mustang, sort of like Intel with CPUs. Intel separates the process technology changes from the CPU architecture updates, in order to minimize risk. Ford has done this before for the Mustang as well. Changing the platform while carrying over the engines, then revamping the drivetrain while maintaining the same platform.

I agree that 2017 is a likely time for some updates. I personally think the Mustang looks fine (if you look at that montage of the three mustangs and the Fusion, it's clear that the S550 looks very much like the Mustangs of the past, while the Fusion has taken on some Mustang cues as well as some Aston Martin cues. I'd say the Fusion looks like a Mustang rather than the other way around).

If you are not happy with the Mustang now, waiting is definitely a good strategy, until the day they eliminate the V8 and you get the EB 3.5 instead. For many that may actually be an upgrade, but I want that V8. I hope the day it goes away is quite far in the future.

What gets me is when GM folk say It "looks like a fusion", To me the Fusion is a nice looking car especially in the upper trims, so its' not a bad thing in my eyes as well as the publics because Ford has sold a ton of Fusions.

Ford seems to do the tic-toc where Chevy put out everything in this release. I'm waiting for the 10 speed and fascia refresh..as soon as that hits my $ is down at the dealer. No way do I want the 3.5 EB. Mustang deserves a V8 ;)

do i want a 1ss camaro come springtime instead of my GT? yes i do.

is it because of the MT82 transmission? no it is not.

if that's what's swaying you away from the mustang towards the camaro, you're doing it wrong.

Huh? Did you just seriously type that out for all to see? Bone stock, the GTPP out runs the Boss 302 by 2+seconds a lap as video evidence has been provided on this very subject.

Straight line speed is = to what the S197 stock for stock. Modding the S550, it is faster vs. the old 5G.

The only video I've watched about the 302 was a few days ago from Jay Leno and I was curious how it drives because he loved it more than the 660 hp GT500. I went to a dealer that had a 302 in grabber blue in SD and drove them back to back (GT/PP) and I seriously liked the Boss much more. The S550 feels and looks more luxurious than American muscle. It was quiet very quiet. The Boss felt to me like that muscle car I've always wanted. Powerful, noisy, felt much lighter than the S550. I loved the suede steering wheel, the recaros, the fonts of the speed and tach.
The truth is, more than performance, I just can't get over that Fusion front-end.

If you're worried about the Camaro and 20 measly horsepower, you have no business buying anything in this segment. I absolutely love my car and I'm so glad that I didn't wait for the Camaro (they still didn't fix the issues I had with it).

There will always be things that arent quite right and other things that you love. If you cant appreciate what each manufacturer is bringing to the table these days, you're a jackass. You're in the absolute prime of the HP wars right now, appreciate what you have (and HP is just the icing on the cake right now as the cars available today offer so much in every other aspect).

It's not GM folk just saying it..come on 505. Just go read all the reviews from the magazines when the S550 came out. Almost every mag commented it had a 'Fusion' like front end. No one is saying the Fusion isn't a nice looking.

The truth is, more than performance, I just can't get over that Fusion front-end.
Agreed. I love the GT350 lower front and slightly smaller opening grill...just wish the headlights looked a tad different. Hope we get something like that. Headlights seem to be being updated also.

Why not? Some of us expect a modern transmission in a 40K+ car. Call me silly but I value my $$$ spent. Also some of us in this day and age of car development expect MPG improvements, even in cars in this segment. Those that say if you are worried about MPG shouldn't be buying a Mustang/Camaro is complete BS.

Camaro delivered on all. Weight savings, 8 speed transmission and better MPG (way better highway). Am I buying one. Nope. But I expect Mustang to try to improve in these segments.

Just admit you don't know what you want, you just sound like a vagina.... GTFO...:)(Excuse my French)

Who the fuck bitches about a suede steering wheel when there is an available option for that too...None of these are based on performance factors like you claimed before.

The S550 has Recaro options as well

Fonts of the speedometer?..

And now a Fusion front end?...SO BE IT...The Camaro has a Camry front end too!

Who in their sane minds watches Jay Leno for a car review?...Pussies.
At least watch MotorTrend's Randy or Chris Harris for a more educated review.

Well put. The GT is all about performance and that's where Ford fumbled the ball. If you want sales, fine, that's what the Eco and V6 are for, but the GT is a performance oriented machine and Ford didn't delivere as expected. I'm hopeful that Ford wanted to see how the new Camaro specs were and then counterattack in 2017/18 with more V8 power, a track pack (there's a reason why they changed the name from track to performance package) a noisier exhaust, and a less Fusion-like exterior.
If all this is not taken cared of, I'm seriously thinking of buying a 2013 Boss 302 over the S550 GT.
Since 1993 the GT has been an entry level V8 and really nothing more. It wasn't even until 2011 where the GT was given any sort of respect. Let's not forget there is a flagship Mustang if performance is our main priority. For those looking for a good all around well performing car, easy to live with car, there are options.

I love how people think Ford should make a perfect car for them and anything else is failure. Yeah, Ford really messed up as S550 sales must not be very good...

I'm pretty sure Jay Leno can outdrive you with a pinto! Anyways, I watch videos from motor trend, the smoking tire, the fast lane, evo tv, and many more.

I would be down for the challenge...I have some good seat time in FORZA 4 racing...I raced in a Pinto in the game :) and also have real life time novice experience around my local track ( Brainerd International Raceway).

But joking aside...You do not buy a car based on forum opinions. At least not me, I try what I want and if it doesn't meet my expectations, I move to another brand. Variety is a spice of life as life is too short to keep waiting for Ford to make a better performing car than a Camaro.

Hopefully will have mine in a month. Having test driven a friends and an auto at a dealership I came away impressed.

Things I want:
HUD
Aluminum body to reduce weight like in the F150.
I wish it was proportioned like the 65 Stang.

Overall the car is gonna continue to be a hit.
