HELP - Need a MT-82 Tailshaft Flange, WHERE?

Yes but I put a lock washer and nut on the backside along with red locktite. The threads are M12x1.5. I am going to try and figure out if I can switch to the four bolt 11-14 but I'm not to optimistic I'm sure the distance is off....

Dan, sorry to see the troubles you've encountered. It looks like you found someone local to you to help get you up and running again.

Just so you know, the rubber joint that helped to facilitate this failure is referred to as a Giubo joint.

I'd venture to guess that the majority mistakenly refer to it as a Guibo joint. Regardless, the Wiki link above gives proper credit to the individual responsible for its creation.

Note that Ford did not use a Giubo joint on the MT-82 when used in the S197 chassis but chose to use it on the S550. It is typically used to smooth driveline harmonics. The issue with them is that they degrade over time as well as when they come in contact with certain liquids, etc. They are definitely not designed to withstand the type of driveline shock that a high horsepower car with traction can impart at drag strip style venues. The bolts yielded in this case because of the joint and wouldn't have been an issue had there not been one in place.

Also, note that the GT350 does not use a Giubo joint but rather reverts to the fixed flange of the transmission bolting directly to the driveshaft u-joint flange.

Thanks brother - I'm sure it's actually a fantastic design for the stock power levels. My car drove and was as quiet as a S Class compared to all my previous mustangs so when I was knocking the design earlier it was just out of frustration. Like you said on the GT-350 they remove because it's more about putting power to the ground than comfort it so if nothing else I hope all the other MT-82 guys making big power see this thread and include an upgraded driveshaft in their builds as a #1 priority.

I know I'm way late to this party here but does anyone have any advice on how to get the goddamn flange off. I'm using a puller with an impact driver on tbr puller and I've been going at it for like at least 3 hours and it hasnt budged
30MM deep well socket, an impact gun and 3 jaw puller is needed to remove it. A flange holder (which can be purchased on eBay) will be needed to hold the flange when torquing the bolt down during reassembly. I also used 175 psi air to break mine free. You have to keep the pressure high on your air compressor and it will loosen a little at a time. You could also use the flange holder in the link below and two 1/2” drive breaker bars to remove and install.
