Especially on a 3 lane, but really, why don't people understand this? Hell, I might be doing 20 over the limit, but if the right lane is empty, that's where I am.
no idea why people don't understand. this is how highways/roads are supposed to work.

right lane driving, left lane pass, immediately back into right lane.

I never really notice any drivers being blatant azzholes and cutting me off. Only from terrible oblivious drivers. I think maybe this is because my vehicle is blacked out and looks intimidating? And you guys who are getting hostile drivers have bright colored paint jobs or are left lane lingerers?

if someone is going slower then what you think is "ok" you tailgate?

unless you want to rear end someone, you probably shouldnt do that. just my 2 cents.
Thanks for the tip. I think if someone is driving slowly in the passing lane I will follow closely to give them a clue that something is amiss. I'm not saying it's ok, but it is what I do. If there is room to safely pass on the right I will just go around them, but sometimes the right lane is too full to do that.

Cant count the number of times I've seen road rager's do this in the middle of traffic with 100 more cars in sight in the left lane (note, left lane, NOT "fast Lane") when they aint going nowhere for some time.

There are people who ride the left... go around them... They usually have a California or Canadian (by far the worst) plate around here.

You aint the king of the roads
You seem angry. That's ok. I understand that different people have different driving styles. I accept and put up with those others that drive differently than me. But I do get irritated by them sometimes as well.

Just my two cents, but my wife got tailgated all the way home the other night by a guy who then blew past her screaming, "dumbass!" Some people are just jerks. Doesn't have anything to do with where people live, what car they drive, whatever. They're going to be a jackass wherever they are.

As for tailgating people, I avoid it; First of all, it's a safety issue for me, second of all, it's just escalating a situation in a way that *I don't have to*. There's no reason to be overly aggressive on the road. Speed and swiftness in defense of one's safety is one thing, but if you cut someone off and tailgate because you think you can modify their own behavior, be ready for someone else to do the same right back.
Cut off is a phrase I always am bothered by. What does that mean? Someone changes lanes in front of you? It implies that you have the right to the road in front of you and no one else should be allowed to get in front of you. Maybe you mean something else?

Sounds like you think your behavior on the road is safer and better than mine. You are probably right. I do more risky things than I should.

people take things way to personally while on the road. someone cuts you off? maybe they didnt see you? maybe they were on their way to an emergency and absolutely had to get over. not many people really think about that when it happens to them, i know ive gotten mad a few times about it but i get over it pretty fast because i know it wasnt anything personal unless i knew the person driving, then i can just go whoop on them later :p

people on their phone texting or talking and they almost hit me or cut me off though...wish i could force them off the road for their ass whoopin right then and there.
Funny - people take things too personally but not you.. as long as you get to whoop them, right?

It's mainly due to that people, including myself, don't have time for your bullshit. Whether it's at traffic lights, stop signs, left lane etc. put down the phone and pay attention to what you are doing.

I especially tailgate when people seem to not use the on and off ramps. If the interstate speed is 70, then use the on ramp to get up to 70 BEFORE you get on the interstate. Same is said for the off ramp, slow down when you get ON the off ramp. That's why they are there and are as long as they are. People seem to get want to merge into traffic going 45-60mph and wonder why they can't get in. The reason I tailgate is that you are affecting me to merge into traffic dangerously because you do not know how to merge.

Left lane is simply a no brainer. Get in the left lane, pass the traffic, and get over ASAP. It's a common practice in Europe and should be here as well. It simply allows traffic to get flowing to keep people from hitting their brakes which is a receipe for disaster on a freeway or interstate. Some people think it's their duty to slow everybody down in the left lane which end up doing more harm than good. Not to mention it's the law in most states to keep right.

If I'm sitting in traffic and Miss Suburbanwifeandkids up front is fucking texting away not paying attention to anything around her, meanwhile theres a gap the size of a football field infront of her, yes I'm going to speed past her and cut her off. But then she wonders, "Why is everyone an asshole? I have kids in the car!" No, you just need to put the phone down and drive.

Sorry, I'm just tired of the shitty drivers out there lol.
Yeah - on ramps are a pet peeve of mine as well.

Some people want a long, clear stretch of left lane in front of them and they will do whatever they can to prevent you from getting in front of them. "Cutting them off"

Me either. I'm somewhat aggressive on the road, but also non-confrontational. If I see someone getting crazy I don't participate in that angry type of behavior. Sometimes people change lanes in front of me, but I don't see that as bad behavior. Just means they are ready to pass.

...But while some people are dicks while on the road around you, it's funny how much nicer they are face-to-face, like when at the gas station or a parking lot.
... Most people are actually very decent unless you do something to bother them.
There are two kinds of personalities in this world: 1) out of the car, and 2) behind the wheel.

If someone enters the flow of traffic in a gap ahead of me, but maintains a speed in line with everyone else, I may gradually, safely, slow down in order to increase the distance between me and that person, but I won't shake my fist at them and call them an asshole for cutting me off. If they make me brake suddenly and sharply, or make me have to swerve suddenly to avoid hitting them, then they've cut me off, and are a jerk.

I'm safe when other cars are around. Otherwise, well ... I do not put myself on a pedestal :)

Well hey I agree with your assesment about others Merging into your lane and do think they should try to maintain civility and keep pace with the vehichle in front of them ..

What gets me is these goof balls with the cell phone in they're hand while driving in a brand new vehichle that has bluetooth tech and they are to lazy to pick up the owners manual to atleast try to pair the cell phone so they can drive and YAP at the same moment and not wonder all over the road in front of me .. Goofs ...

But hey IT sure is Nice up here and Ya can see for miles and miles !

Tailgating on purpose is risky business. People that tailgate are assholes. They do it to intimate, or they do it because they are simply idiots and don't realize they are still going the same speed if they are 6 inches or 60 ft behind the car in front of them.

It's a balance. People that don't let fast cars behind them pass are assholes, but overly aggressive drivers are also assholes.

It's law here in Utah to let faster vehicles pass, there are even signs posted all over the freeway, and there were news stories run... and it made no difference.

I will always let the faster guy by me if I'm in the left lane, and I request the same courtesy. Also, when did flashing your brights to request to pass become considered rude? My basic rule on the road - "stay out of my way and I'll stay out of yours".
