It's going to be a loooooong wait. They said they planned a five year run, I just don't know if that's five years from the limited 2015 run, or the regular production run in 2016.
5 year production run? That has never been stated by Ford. Please don't proliferate bad info. Ford has only told the dealers of a two year run (2016-17) beyond that it is up for speculation.

Indications from little hints dropped from Ford is that the GT500 debuts in 2017 as a 2018 model. But what has been said from Ford is they will not have two Shelby models produced at the same time. That certainly suggests as one ceases production the other begins. I guess we will see.

On the finding used GT350's or even R's...the competition to find a used one will be far different than a Boss 302 on account of the broad draw this car has with the IRS and flat plane crank. The performance value has created a draw from enthusiasts from which the Mustang platform has not really experienced in the past. As they say...somewhat unchartered waters for this kind of performance value from Ford.

There was a lot of hype on the Bosses when I bought my GT. Very similar IMO. Besides Ford made a one hour documentary on the Boss. The GT350?
Well yes but this is a totally different car with a totally different engine. Its much less of a tweaked GT that the Boss was, that was my main point really.

People saw less value in getting a Boss if they already had a GT; but here there is enough difference to make it worth it to quite a few to upgrade.

Agree... in fact the current Coyote in the S550 is literally 9/10ths the same as the Roadrunner engine in the '12-'13 Boss 302 models. There is more of a large gap now between the S550 Mustang GT's vs. the GT350 when compared to the S197 Mustang GT's vs. the Boss 302 models.

I don't disagree about the performance of the cars but you were referring to the hype and they are very similar.

I think that the GT350, especially the R, is the best Mustang that's ever been built. I'm not missing the point, I'm just saying that most Mustang buyers will. I'm planning to buy a 350R around the end of the 5 year run that they've planned (2019-2020), mainly because I have to pay off my commuter before I buy one. I may be wrong, but I think that the R will get easier to find.
I think you will be wrong on that. I think the GT350 will be easier to find based on production numbers. By this time next year you can go on a lot and order a 2017 or buy a 2016. Once they start getting delivered the cars will be easier to find.

Look at the 2013-14 GT500. That car had a ton of hype behind it as well. A year after they came out you could find them. I think the GT350 will be the same way. It doesn't seem like that now but eventually once the hype wears off it will be the same way.

I haven't just pulled the five year run thing out of thin air. It's all over the place, and stated by multiple sources. It may not be accurate, but I didn't just make it up. I hope that it's getting a five year run, or I absolutely won't be buying a new one. Fingers crossed.

That whole 5 year thing all was from the same source, "Mustang Manny". I talked to him on the phone looking for my car and he seems like a real shark, so who really knows.

It would be a good business move if after the first 2 years Ford simply made the GT350 a top tier option Mustang. They can drop the Shelby name. Just have the Magneride, the FPC, and the wider front track with the Aero as the top most optioned Mustang GT.

Exactly. And is contradictory to everything else we have heard or read about from other sources some from within the Ford ranks. But you never know....I just would not put any stock in the 5 year claim.

Trust me, I hope he has some privy information, and it really doesnt make much sense to me for ford to put some much RnD into a car and only sell it for 2 years, but who really knows. Time will tell!

I spoke with two dealers today about 16' models. Each told me they have to be allocated to get one. I'm not playing fords bullshit game with $70,000 so my search ends here. Going to look at a 13' ZR1 Saturday.

Emissions standards change in 2017 I think. I wonder if that's going to be a hangup for higher performance, non-hybrid V8s. I'm not sure how all that works, and the low volume cars may not be as hurt by that. No clue.

It's 100% ford playing a game. 90% of the people on here who want one, don't get one and I for one am not taking $70,000 lightly. I'll buy a faster, better performing car for the same cost.
