The I4 Camaro is going to be lighter than a feather, and people thought the 1LE was fast? They are not going to know what hit them, this forum will burn in rage!
It will be great for EB owners because they were dumb and didn't buy a GT first, the market will be flooded with cheap GTs as owners fire sale them out of embarrassment. Seriously, Ford needs to step their game up now that the Camero has upped the ante.

Wow, some pretty interesting and weird posts in this thread :) Especially about modified Evos and other turbo cars blown engines. I have had few highly modified Evos in the past- all bullet proof, as most Evos are.
Bad tuner, wrong combination of parts, bad maintenance - any engine will blow up.
Opinions about modified blown Ecoboosts engines are waay premature. Just my opinion.

There's just a lot of people wearing gt blinders on this site. Some can't appreciate any other car as they think it somehow devalues the gt....it seems there are very few car guys who appreciate various builds. There are alot of fanbois though it seems.

I think that's true to a degree, but there are a few reasons for the comments you see:

  • It's fun to say polarizing things on internet forums. Call it trolling, but it sparks more debate and I think everyone learns more that way.
  • Many EB and V6 owners get hurt really easily and don't seem to have much of a sense of humor. Maybe it's because some of them secretly wish they had bought a V8, I don't know. I liked my V6 a lot when I owned it. But at the time, I would have preferred a V8. I just didn't want to spend the money.
  • Yes I am a V8 fanboi. If the 4 in stock form made more power than the 8, I might become a 4 cylinder fanboi. However, I would still prefer the sound of the 8.
  • Also, if the EB 4 was way lighter than the V8 car, I would consider one for the handling. Unfortunately....

Nothing wrong with defending your car when someone else comes down on it. We all do that. You can only be self-deprecating for so long. Two of my best friends are brothers. The younger one takes a lot of "teasing" but he doesn't allow his brother to walk all over him. They have their occasional scrums (verbal & physical). It's natural. It's called self-respect. Without it you're weak and susceptible to bullying. And it's a good way to keep everyone's ego in check.

That's how it goes more or less :

Eco - haha you idiots, you paid for GT while you can have equally fast car with just $5 tune...

GT - 4-cyl Mustang isn't a Mustang

V6 - you all suck, V6 is the best because it's the best

Lol I'd hope nobody thinks you're an idiot for buying a v8 it's a bad ass car. With a ton of cheap power potential.
It is True you can get close to a stock v8 performance with a tune but IMO the v8 is much more than just 0-60 and 1/4 numbers, it's a different feel altogether. I actually negotiated a decent deal on a Gt yesterday, woulda cost me 3G .Not bad to swap IMO .Anyways after driving them I actually prefer the tuned Eco overall. I thought with people trading I missed something the first time around. For me nope.Still love the v8 Stang just not what I wanted. I'll also mention this site is the only place I've experienced the Eco hate, well besides a couple knuckle draggers .It always gets a great response at the shows I've been to.

Apwrx - I know all that, just tried to illustrate approach I see from each side... In fact have two V8 Mustangs so I'm the GT crowd from my post above ;)

Of course EB is very much inferior but these poor (not literally) people think otherwise ;-)

(I am kidding of course)

The way you worded it, it sounded like you were talking about the EB. I've had my headaches with the EJ20 and will never look at a Subaru again.
There was nothing wrong with the EJ20. The EJ255 and EJ257 were the ringland blowers. The 2.0 liter boxer was just fine, but for some reason Subaru went full retard when they ported the STI over here, and then in 2005 -2006 screwed up the WRX powerplant as well. We also lost the equal length headers and the twin scroll turbo when those cars were brought stateside. You know in Japan, for years the STI was superior to the Evo... not like what happened here in the states.

As for the GT fanbois vs EcoStang fanbois, I noticed a lot of the hate is brought on by EcoStang buyers trying to justify their purchase to anyone who will listen. We can't seem to go a couple weeks without a thread like that. With those threads come the GT owner bravado that Eco and V6 owners hate so much. If you love your car then you shouldn't have to justify your decision to anyone.

Oh, and then you have the guys who do that, spewing venom at their friends, coworkers, and forum members about their Ecoboost bullying... then turn around and trade for a GT (you know who you are). Really? Everyone drive your car and grow the hell up.

I believe this divide stems from car cultural preferences

V8 Fanboy perspective:

The Muscle car fans like me have a concept of what a muscle/pony car should be. One thing that many like me believe is a MUST is a V8 power plant.

You can get torque from high revving motors, but having low end torque at low RPM requires a V8. I have approximately 400 pound feet of torque from my 6.4L Hemi at 3500 RPM. That Q slams you in the seat with just a push of the gas peddle. Everyone is in violent agreement that you can get the same performance from small displacement motors that use forced induction and rev at high RPM. But those cars are not muscle cars.

ECO fanboy:

I suspect many of the new ECO drivers are "Tuner" and "Ricer Fans." (nothing wrong with that--I have owned my share of tuners). The tuner fans love the value that the Eco Stang brings....and you get a great looking body style...vice an ugly Rice looking car.

It is the fear of potential "Riceifcation" of the Stang by Eco Tuners that has the Pony fans nervous. There is a thread (Ricer Pact) here established to prevent such a bad thing from happening.

I just hope that the Mustang does not become a "Riced Out" tuner in the future. The potential for "Rice Abuse" is high with Eco Stangs.

What I find funny is that most of the anti-EB crowd have never looked into the platform. They assume (you know what that means) the EB is garbage because it has half the cylinders they want from a Mustang. A bolt-on and tune EB just went 12.2 at 111 this weekend, how is that not awesome? Congrats Justin, that time is something to be proud of.

Are you kidding me? Mustang owners have been perfectly fine with ricing out their Mustangs way before the EB was in the picture. That thread should have taught you that, but you can't fix stupid.

The potential for "Rice Abuse" is high regardless of the car's power plant. I know you have seen silly looking S197s, SN95s, and Fox bodies in the past. V8, V6, Turbo 4... it doesn't matter. The S550 will be no different.

There will always be people with poor taste, easily obtainable credit, and Autozone "Performance Part" addictions. Your suspicion of Ecoboost owners being the primary offenders of "Riceification" will be ripped to shreds the moment a S550 coyote pulls up next to you with tangerine rims and Vin Diesel's autograph in vinyl across the side of the car.

That ricer thing is getting ridiculous. "Pony fans" need to drive their V8s and worry less about the I4s that with a few mods come dangerously close to upsetting the balance (of a stock V8, anyway). The same turbo I4 that is a match for a Pre-Coyote GT... see guys I included the thread topic.

...and that Ricer Pact thread..... kill it with fire.
