I mostly got positive comments . Only when I pull up to a camaro or challenger they stare at me like they wanna fight or sumthing .
As Mark Twain mused, "History doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme". And I mention that because if you study the history of the Old Wild West, you will find that many bar room fights originated by young men arguing whose horse was superior. Substitute a car for a horse in present times, and "Everthing old is new again". Don't roll your eyes fellas...it is after all a Mustang! We all have "Horse Sense"!

It's always that way. You gotta have thick skin in the car world. If you're insecure, you won't make it.

It doesn't matter if you have a 3000hp drag monster. Some little sh*t is going to come down and say "yeah, but your car can't turn like my GTI sucka!" You have a car that handles great, and some f*ckhead will say "but I'd smoke your sh*t ricer from a dig."

You get a car that does both awesome, and a third dickbucket will show up and say "but your car looks like a cross between Rosie O'Donnell on acid and Sasquatch from those beef jerky commercials. Did it come with a free bowl of soup?"

You find a magical car that has everything, and then some douchenozzle will say "I bet you're compensating for a small penis!"

Just chill, put your hater-blockers on and say "see ya, cockas!"

I dare say "Dystopic" that you would have fitted very well in the Old West! Your name describes that time and place also. Very funny stuff!

I love when I get the "Who would buy a Mustang with a 4 cylinder" comment.. Then I reply with it is a 4 cylinder that with a simple tune and intake that can run 5sec 0 to 60 :) They useually shut up very quickly then..

Hell, I'm running 4.8 0-60 on tune + intake.

I was reading your comparison and that is amazing :) Crazy how much these cars open up with a tune and intake. Looking forward to getting mine done. Parts will be sent soon saw Bama finished my tune :)

The part of the door that has the "point" on it. You know the part that hits the car parked beside you.....paint is going to get chipped off of it quick. Yeah I know -don't park close to anyone but some times it is unavoidable

Of course I always have the ones asking "Man, why didn't you get a V8?" like it's some type of fail or "less-of-a-Mustang" that I have a V6.

I just want to look at people who ask me that now and say, "What's a V8?"

The proper response to that, when it comes up, is "when you pay my bills, then you can tell me what I should drive. Until then, f*ck off."

We're all entitled to spend our money as we see fit, and make the decision that for our bargain dollars, we'd prefer a non-V8 Mustang over a f*cking Camry.

The majority of the comments I get are very positive and someone usually comments almost every time I take it out.

The only negative responses have been from my "If it's not German, it's crap", Father In Law. I nearly bought a BMW 335 once, and actually have nothing against any cars based only on brand or country of origin, but I go back at him pretty hard just because he's the type of guy that can use a little humility in his life. Here's what I tell him:
1.) They whole mystique of the quality of German engineering is a myth! Admittedly this statement is a bit over the top for the in law's benefit, but there is some truth to it. German makes typically don't fair well in reliability statistics, check Consumer Reports. All of the big brands have had problems over the years with some, or even several models, going back years. Anyone remember Audi's sudden acceleration problems back in the 80's?
2.) American cars have come a long way in the past 15 years or so, and many of the stereotypical issues have been resolved or greatly mitigated. Reliability, Handling, Interior material quality, and fuel economy are all up in general and there are lots of magazine articles to support this. Of course, we know there are still some annoying fit and finish issues, but no need to concede this point to a blowhard.
3.) Bang for $: Luxury makes simply cannot match the horsepower/$ ratio of an American Muscle Car. Of course that's not really what they're about, but the point still stands. What BMW, Audi, or Merc can you get with over 400hp for under $40K?
4.) Over Engineering on many luxury models: As pointed out in previous posts.
5.) Nameplate perception vs. reality: This may be the most inflammatory point and no offense is intended to real enthousiasts of any German brands (real gearheads know better); My Father In Law knows next to nothing about cars but he buys only BMW's and Mercs because his neighbors will see and assume he's doing well, his perception of quality is based on nameplate and cost. In short; he likes cars because how they are perceived, I like cars because of what they actually do and how well they meet my needs.

Again, not seriously bashing German cars (I have and would consider them for future purchases), but there are plenty of ways to refute and have fun with the "if it's not German, it's crap crowd".
