They're talking about the pre-coyote GT. You know, pre-2011. The comparable 300HP engine. 3 valves, SOHC, etc. Like it says in the title, and what has been discussed. You know, if you stopped to read anything instead of instantly going to the defensive, you might learn something!
Clearly you have poor reading comprehension because you somehow failed to understand the title of the thread
It's a lame comparison to compare the older 5.0 to the new 4 cylinder. That's my point. Whatever. Have fun with your 4 cylinder.

It isn't even a 5.0, it's a 4.6L. LOL. You really have no idea what you're talking about, thanks for letting us all know.

It's owners like this that make me honestly embarrassed to own a Mustang sometimes, because this is how all Mustang owners are perceived. You have to basically prove you know anything about cars before any other car enthusiast will actually take you seriously.

EDIT: Also, 4 posts in and they've been used to try to blast another car. Really just sums it all up right there.

I came across one in mexico once... It stays neck and neck at the dig but it eventually walks away slowly but surely

The 4.6 wins on sound alone.
I would also lean toward the 4.6 just for sound. A 2010 model has the great styling and the last year of the 4.6. Plus you could save some money buying an older vehicle (if you care about that).

I'd get one of those and put some 4.10 rear gears in it. Just that one mod would make a significant different in getting out of the hole. If buying an auto you could also do a looser converter to improve it even more.

Not everyone cares about speed, if you're buying an ecoboost for speed as the top priority you're buying the wrong car. There's countless USED cars that will make more HP than a ecoboost for less the price, for example:

2012 base GT in my town with 25k miles for $21,500(plenty here at that price), lowered and exhaust, add full bolt ons and you're over 450 rwhp, OR boost it and still be under 29k which is what I paid OTD for my ecoboost.

2004 cts-v, like 413 hp for 14k

Like I said, if someone bought the ecoboost as speed for their first priority then they're morons. Build the engine, upgrade the turbo and you're at what a mild bolt-on 5.0 does for more the price.

I'm not bashing the eco but speed should not be why people buy this car. Should be for a happy medium of looks, comfort, and enough pep for be a fun daily and most importantly the great gas.

Wanted my car to be loaded, get good mileage and be fast (not peppy, that sounds lame), and sound good. Goals achieved. I'm happy

Now I just add more stuff because I can and it's fun. With my driving habits I would be blowing $500 a year extra on gas alone with a GT

I wouldn't buy any car for speed alone, not even a Mustang

The 4.6 is going to be better in a straight-line.

If you are into Solo or AutoX, you can't beat the EBPP right now. Maybe the 2016 Miata will be a better Solo bang for the buck. Right now, you can't beat the EB and EBPP in Solo/X.

They are becoming Coyote and Boss 302 competitive in FS.

I liked the Foxes styling, price/fun ratio and 'mod-ability'. SN95 styling and extra weight turned me off. 2V 4.6 turned me off. 4V 4.6 was ok, but only offered in a handful of New Edges, which I did like the exterior styling of, but the interiors turned me off. The 4V 4.6 wasn't impressive in stock form, and not overly friendly to basic NA bolt-ons...forced induction or nothing, so didn't really get into them. The 3V stuff that followed? I was VERY disappointed in the slow/no evolution of tech during the retro-styling years.

Coyote is a pretty good engine, albeit 10 years or so after MB had something similar. The EB seems to be a great engine w/ the most up-to-date tech, and lends itself well to being tinkered w/, which some of us like.

Exactly the #1 reason I bought a '10....sound and sound alone. At the present time, I can't afford a '15 GT PP, so it was an S197 GT or an S550 EB or V6. To me, if is not V8 or manual is not a true Mustang experience, so I chose a 2010 GT luckily with track pack. The exhaust is just amazing. Sounds much nicer than the 5.0. I also chose this model year because when the time comes to switch to the S550, not only will I be driving a new platform and design, but a new engine as well.

Off a dig, stock, my Ecoboost bested a 4.6L at the stoplight. But it was one of the 05-09 ones. The '10 bumped the 4.6L a little in HP & TQ so I'd be curious how that would play out. I won't find out because I started modding not long after that.

It was very close. Off the line, my Ecoboost lurched ahead quickly. But past 30 mph or so, the performance was pretty close. I didn't gain any more distance, but he wasn't reeling in on me either. I was probably about a car length ahead of him by the time we hit 65-70 or so and had to slow down. I think he was a manual, though, so it's possible an automatic 05-09 would have beat me stock?

I'm sure I'd take him much easier now, with the mods. Hope that helps with the original question.

so what happens when a 4.6 puts a power adder on their engine like ecoboosts have?

This comparison of 2.3L I4 performance to 4.6L V8 performance needs to stop.
