What is the difference between the Warrior and Crusader?

I've never seen a shock classified by the power a car makes. Maybe a drag racing thing?

What is the availability on the front shocks?
Actually, it can hold true for any application (power based valving requirements) - but it is usually more important in drag racing.

The body roll in handling, which is affected by suspension/chassis geometry, weight of car, tires, driving style, suspension etc....the valving "matters" for a slightly different reason than drag racing. In drag racing, the valving is catered towards the squat and rise of the car, both front and rear.

On THAT note, this is basically how it works:

Warrior Series
Standard Vikign Valved Double Adjustable Shocks. These shocks cater to the average person, with average modifications. These shocks will aide in providing better traction on the street and strip, and they will also aide in better handling on the average modified street/handling style suspension system.

Crusader Series:
These are a better shock. They feature similar COMPRESSION valving as the Warriors, but have a unique REBOUND valving. Comparable dampers to these, typically sell for around $400-$500 per shock.

On that note, Viking has valving for handling applications and drag racing applications with the Crusader Series pieces.

For example....my personal 2015 GT has Viking Crusader shocks. My car is catered more towards drag racing. It is a street/strip car.

The BMR PP GT, which is all about handling, is now outfitted with Viking Crusader PT valved pieces, which are going to be specific for handling applications. These parts are technically still being developed (and we are helping) - but availability should be within a few weeks. We have them on our car as of today (the actual production pieces)

The good news is, we will have the Crusader Series Coilover kits on both cars soon. The Handling series on the PP car, and the Drag versions on my car - both inverted and endless spring rate options.

I don't care if they are coilovers, I just want to see them making front struts already! If they are coilovers and they accept the common Hypercoil with their smaller OD springs for improved inboard tire clearance, then I'll definitely be excited.

I got mine coming ordered them today! Should be in and on my car by next weekend to do some testing at the track and I appreciate it Kelly for being patience with me answering all those questions. Can't wait to see what a difference these make. Thanks again Kelly and to the crew at BMR couldn't ask for a better group to do business with.

This is actually very intriguing. One place I usually splurge is my suspension. I love a car that can handle. This is a good price.

I never heard or tested Viking shocks, if JRI, Bilstein or Koni doesnt make shocks or a coilover i wouldn't even bother. i think sport shocks are my most desired mod right now.

FYI, I contacted KW on 4/21 and their tech advisor emailed me back. Says there isn't any product development information for the S550 as far as he's concerned. At least not yet.

Then again, he said to keep checking in on their news page for potential updates.

bump. I want my dampers!
They should be there anytime now? Keep me updated. :headbang:

How did the testing go?
Unfortunately, they cancelled on us.

BUT - we are going to Sebring tomorrow.

So you rather have the stock dampers, than a quality aftermarket piece because you have not heard of them? I guess I can see your point, but you did spend a good chunk of change on a car that just came out and happens to be unproven, technically. Just a twist to it, per say

Viking Performance was started in 2011. The President and VP of QA1, left to create Viking Performance. Their goal was to make a better shock, at a great value. Their advantage is that they ONLY make double adjustable shocks, so that they can keep costing down. They are also willing to step outside of the box, and offer more of a custom valved shock instead of cookie cutter stuff.

Viking is best known for two segments - and they are very opposite. Their largest market, and what they are most known for is the Pro Touring industry. They provide DA Dampers for many $100K+ PT Builds, and have their components on some of the best performing PT builds out there.

On the other end of the spectrum, their shocks are on many of the fastest 2005-2014 Mustangs. JPC uses them, Beefcake uses them, and of course BMR is a big proponent of them. They are my #1 recommended shock for most applications. Of course, we are a VERY large Koni Distributor..as well as Bilstein, etc. I provide a customer with a package that I feel works best for their wants and needs - I rarely recommend what I call "cookie cutter" suspension packages. Catering to the individual is more my style.

On that note, I do not blame anyone for holding out for the Koni, Bilstein, JRi, etc offerings.... Those are excellent parts, and we are as impatient as anyone to start using them on our cars, and offering them to the consumer.

As for the Vikings, a Viking Equipped 2015 GT was ripping off 2.28 lap times at Sebring over the weekend. ;)

So, while Viking may be new to the game - we have some reputable companies out there beating on them, real time.

These pieces will be a common name in the S550 Suspension world, mark my word on it.

any idea of the shaft size front & rear? does viking provide dynos for their shocks? i'd be interested to see how consistent they are, especially w.r.t. hysteresis and settings that approach the stiffer end of adjustment, as well as stiction upon initial load.

Did that car at Sebring have front struts as well as rear shocks? If not, what front struts did it have?
