There was a pic posted of one blown way back in like November but we never found out who did it
Thats kind of odd.. Just a random post? With no one claiming the pic or anything? Regardless these tuning companies are learning buy trial and error as they go trying to tune these engines. They are not the ones who designed and when your trying to make more power and learn the engine at the same time things like this are bound to happen. within 5 years all the kinks will be worked out everybody will know how much it can handle and what to do to get there and what not to do and in the end everything will be ok. And after that these things will be running down the track in the 10's and all this will just be a memory..

Who had the other cars that Failed??
I am not at liberty to discuss other people's cars. If they want to post, they can. However, I know for a fact that it has occurred in the same manner. Snapped rod, windowed block.

I get that it windowed the block.

I'm not implying these engines are bulletproof by any means. What I do not believe is that the rods simply failed from the load of the engine making 420 odd lbft of torque. It is much more realistic that there was an overload event such as a seized bearing or detonation which caused the rod to snap.

I would really just like to know the root cause of the rod failure.
Detonation would be my best guess, like JJ has pointed out. Perhaps detonation you never heard or knew about. Fueling has been an issue in cold weather.

Within 2 years Ford will have a better piston and rod package is my guess.

Over 8k rpms.. No wonder why!
Rumor and not confirmed. It could have been from anything.

Mike
If you're implying I haven't heard of detonation, please read my post again, I had suggested that as an overload event.

If you're suggesting it was detonation that the driver/tuner never heard or knew about, and not implying I haven't heard of detonation, I apologize for being snarky. :D

Would you mind explaining what the cold weather fueling issue is?

No, I meant detonation that was not loud enough to be picked up by the driver.

Very cold temps and high boost levels have resulted in cars leaning out... as in the fuel pressure in the rail tanking. No fuel, lots of boost and high IATs can very well lead to detonation.

Well i have faith in these engines are going to put down some big power numbers once the engines gets figured out. With that being said im not in any hurry to be trying to bust out 500 ft lbs of torque in mine any time soon..lol The fact that my 2015 Ecoboost has the same power of the v8 did only 5 years ago, and with just a tune has alot more!! Im plenty happy for now... Plus this new mustang is light years improved with its IRS and amazing interior and just amazing style of the car in general. And with FORD coming out with there Tune buy the end of the summer with a warranty which should shed some more light on the power situation.. But im plenty happy for now.

Calling a GT500 the ultimate performance machine is extremely naive. I bought an ecoboost because it's he best car and best bang for the buck around the 25 to 28k range. If I was spending 35k or so, there's no way I'd be in a GT as there are better options IMO for the money. Keep in mind, there are plenty of people who think your 55k GT500 is a poor mans car... It's all a matter of ones own financial state that determines their perception. Personally I just love playing with turbos.
My point was...a GT500 would be the ultimate current OEM Mustang Model sold from a Ford Showroom...

Of course it's not the ultimate performance machine...there are many vehicles produced that are far more potent than any GT500 will ever be...

And agreed...ultimate performance vehicles are all about the size of the checkbook...

I will be curious to see how Ford's tune works out. It sure is taking a long time. My ProCal tune on my 2012 GT lasted 1 month before I dumped it. It pinged. I am sure they won't release a tune for the EcoBoost with the same issues.

Haven't heard any issues with there Tune for the Focus ST.. And they got a 33% torque increase with that. That's good enough for me for now till everything gets panned out.

I'm just curious as to what is the better car at $35k? Genuinely curious about that one. There's no doubt that the EB is a tremendous value, but many feel similarly about the GT given that both bunch significantly above their weight.

Maybe I missed it but what was your best time and what mods on the EBM for the time-pump gas, weight reduction, tires?
12.7@107. Tune, OR pipe, Airaid street intake and a set of DR's on 11-14 19inch wheels. Stock weight pump gas.
