At what point do you consider replacing your current Mustang with another one?

I have a 2019 PP1 A10 premium with magneride with 30k. I only put 3k a year on it. Only way I’d get rid of it would be for a Mach1, but I doubt I’ll ever get the extra money to swap before I’m too old to enjoy it. I’m enjoying what I have.

Any of the newer cars just don't do it for me and with all of the new tech and crap, I lose the desire for new cars. This "subscription" service for stuff that is already in your car is stupid. My modem in my 2024 F150 is "broken" and feel the same, NO OTA. My vehicles are tuned and I don't want someone coming in and mucking with my SW without me knowing and approving. So my modems are disabled-

I bought my 20 Bullitt earlier this year as my last Mustang was an 03 Cobra, miss that car! I wanted a manual to go with the C5 auto car I had. My C5 was my drag and drive car I specifically set up to use for those events and the Bullitt is my "Fun" car. I have an F150 that is my daily. In June, I sold my C5 to a friend and wanted to make a new drag and drive car and found a 23 Mach 1 a few weeks back, low miles and in pristine condition. I like my Bullitt so much, I figured the Mach 1 was an A10 car and would make a great drag and drive ride, so I got it. So 2 S550's now, one manual and 1 auto, both limited editions and I like them both. Will keep the Bullitt NA and the Mach 1 will get boost next year and be the perfect 10 second car for the classes I run in. Parts galore for the 550's, so don't have to play that game like I did with the C5 as they are starting to get hard to get parts. They made a lot of them, but not like the S550's. I'll be able to keep them going for many years to come and I LOVE the Coyote platform.

I sold my 2019 GT in December with 83k on it. If I had bought the car brand new and put PPF on it, I would still own it with the intent to keep it as long as possible.

However, I bought the car used in 2020 and didn't realize until after I owned it a couple weeks that the right door had been repainted. You could tell if you looked closely but I had missed it. Additionally, while I owned it the car had incurred lots of rock chips from its many road trips.

Instead of getting the cosmetic issues fixed, I decided to start over with a new car in my first choice of colors and take better care of it. I bought a 2026 S650. I love it, but I regret not buying a new S550 in 2020 before the prices became ridiculous.

So, I am a car guy. I really like American performance vehicles.

Since 2018, I have had 3 Mustangs and for a brief period owned a Dodge Charger Scat Pack. I usually get the itch to try something different every 2 years or so. I currently own a '22 Mach 1 HP and thoroughly enjoy it. I have had it for a couple of years which is right about the point in time that I start looking around. But at this point nothing is really moving the needle for me. The Mach is pretty special. There is no new Ford manufactured GT350 or GT500. No new Camaro. Not a fan of the C8 Corvette. The current Charger is not even remotely appealing. And Toyota has yet to produce a supercharged Prius. (joke, I'm joking....).

My question is; at what point to you all (if you do) start considering another Mustang or other performance vehicle? Every few years? When your current vehicle starts having mechanical issues? When the warranty runs out? When you get bored with what you own? When you find a screaming deal on another Mustang?

If we're talking modern mustangs - every 2-4 years, now, if we're talking a 1967 Shelby GT500 -different case scenario - 8-10 years.

There's also the attachment/bond you develop with the car. Some of it is mechanical sympathy, where you really want to keep an item that gives you so much joy in great condition. It's part of the hobby to wrench and futz and obsess.

There's also the great memories of great drives, great people and great times enjoyed with/in a particular vehicle. I consider this point to be the one that separates owners, from drivers. Is your vehicle a garage/driveway queen? Or do you get out and experience life with it? Even DDing a great car creates a great bond.

When people post about how few miles their car has on it, I know that person is only getting a part of the enjoyment out of it. And then, the more you drive it, the more stuff you get to fix, repair, maintain, upgrade and obsess over.

I usually only keep cars for about 1 1/2-2 years, but this one I'm going to keep for as long as possible, when the motor or trans goes, I'll just replace it. The direction the Mustang is going, I'm not too interested in buying a new one. My 2020 has everything I could want in a Mustang, other than it being a little too heavy, but that's just nit picking.

Until they go back to an analog dashboard, I will never even consider buying another new Mustang.
Those screens are hideous for a true performance car.... they look proper on a Tesla.

I know... I know, the Tesla's are faster.
But they are simply an appliance and have no soul.

I’m almost 4 years into my current S550, ordered it in May 2022, took delivery in September 2022. Now is about the time I would normally start looking at a replacement. I really like the Dark Horse but right now I don’t see myself moving on from my S550. I’m likely keeping it for the long haul, will tinker with it both cosmetically and mechanically (I’m thinking centri blower when my ESP expires in 3 years).

I try to buy the car that I want and then I keep it. I still have my first Harley Davidson; I bought it new in 1974 XLCH Sportster last year of the right-hand shift. I still have my 2000 Heritage Softail I bought that new. It is the first year of the twin cam motor in a Softail frame. I still have my 2003 100th anniversary Heritage Softail again I bought it new. I have two Mustangs a 2011 V6 first year of the 3.7 motor. I have a 2015 performance package premium GT 5.0. The two Mustangs I bought used. I have a Harley Davidson edition F150 that I also bought used. I don't plan on getting rid of any of them. Although the F150 isn't the last year built, it is a limited edition. Ford stopped producing them in 2012. I try to find vehicles that have something special about them. The 2015 Mustang PP in this build package (specs) is one of about 230 built out a total of 4500. Not a collector car but still not one to be seen on every corner.

Very interesting reading all the different posts. I bought my Mach 1 last year as a 30th bday gift for myself. After years of saving and buying a house where Id have a garage, I pulled the trigger. Did have some thoughts as to if it was a “smart” buy at my age, but seeing some of you guys saying it might be your last car or not being able to enjoy it the way you have in the past makes me feel better about my treat. I also don’t see another car Id buy to replace mine in the near future. The ZL1 and C8 are interesting but don’t want to deal with the worry of having my car stolen or other issues.

The worst money you can spend is on a new car, the depreciation is money down the drain. Most cars depreciate, really rare cars hold value, but not mass produced models. I generally buy used and modify to my taste. I get the experiance without the depreciation. Then after s few years i start all over.

Well, good for you to both buy a house AND buy a Mach 1 at a relatively early part of your life. Nicely done. As for having a ZL1 or C8 stolen, I generally don't leave my Mach 1 unattended. It is my own little quirk. It started when I found a down arrow sign scratched into the rear trunk panel beside the Mach 1 emblem....

Then a mate had a Mach-1 who took me around the track a few times. I loved it, but at the time it was a case of it's nice, but not worth the cost of updating.
But tracking the GT made it clear that in stock form it was OK, but on hot days wasn't up to the task.
So I bought a Mach-1 and because it was hardly driven I had it fully PPF'ed before planning on going to the track. The extra cooling will make it more capable, I'm sure.

PP or standard? What was the first component to overheat? I just found a thread on M7G where a guy installed a Dark Horse A10 cooler on a base GT. Might go that route when I finally get to tracking my GT
